Stephane Robert

French guy, was once ranked top 60 or so.. apparently once beat Berdych at the French

anyway, just watched him win our local tournament, made Erik Chvojka (who is a VERY good player) look like a 4.0 in the final

Does anyone know why he has fallen into the tennis wilderness? Looks like a potential top 30 kind of player, very unusual BH, great hands..

a lot of the french guys don't travel much to play - either they play club tennis in france or challengers and futures around western europe. injury is another possibility. many, many good players in that part of the world.

actually played in the same draw as erik in an open tournament in montreal a couple of years ago, before he made the top 300 in the world. he cut through the draw without dropping more than 1-2 games a match and won in the finals pretty convincingly.

Thats true..there was a french guy that knocked out Agassi at the French back in 2005, ranked 200ish?! can't think of his name at the moment

ye, they are in town warming up for a Challenger next week in a city just up the coast..

Erik carved through the draw here, too, until the final! Nice guy, btw...

Gidday, I remember him pushing Ferrer a little in a tournament final in Joberg a few years back.
BTW What was the tournament here? I was only aware of Burnie.

Yeah, the other one I've heard of is Klec.
Wish I'd known - though I can't imagine dragging myself away from the AO on TV.
I imagine the Examiner had nothing - I'm working for its opposition now so not my fault, ha. :)
May try to get to Burnie next week. Are u going?

Typical French tennis player. Very stylish, athletic, amazing technique. No fight in him.

ouch.

anyway, he is at the Burnie Challenger this week if anyone is able to get down to see. (as is the always entertaining Sam Groth)

Oh, Paul, that women's tournament is next week, starts on the 3rd.

*bump

and beats Falla in straights to go through to the second round at Wimbledon..

I TOLD you this fella could play!

#timbofeelingprettysmug

He messed my draw up w/that. I kinda thought about that match for a second....and reluctantly picked falla because he brought federer to 5 sets a few years back at a slam once, so thats why i picked falla.

Well he's 33 and his best year was in 2010. Mostly plays secondary circuits. This year, he played a lot in Australia and racked up enough points to play the qualies at RG. I think he lost in the 3rd round there.
