String recommendation for blade 18x20 v7

Hi all.

I've been using MSV focus hex and then MSV focus hex ultra for ~7 years, but I hated it on my recently acquired blade v7 18x20. It felt harsh, without any power and the sweetspot got smaller.

I initially demoed my blade using pro's pro plus power, and although I liked the racquet/string combination, I feel this string has poor tension maintenance. I would like something that would last me longer.

Do you guys have any recommendation of a "cheap" poly that would feel comfortable and provide some power? Tension maintenance is a plus, although I string on my own.

Ps.: The focus hex was used on prestige MP's and felt great.

I go with Element 16L at 47# in my 18x20 Blades. Works great for me. I loved ALU Power too. Waiting to try 4G. I always string in mid 40s, so joint pain is never an issue.

What racket are you moving from, and have you tried going lower in tension or a thinner gauge? I liked hyper g, Wilson revolve, and head lynx.

Hyper G if you need the bite

Revolve for high spin for a round string with good control.

Lynx similar to revolve but higher launch angle, more power, worse tension maintenance.

The flex tech in this line does something to make the feel a bit harsher when swinging harder so I wouldn't go too stiff with the string.

Given that that thing is a noodle, you may want to consider something besides poly for your power.

Before the blade I was using an i. Prestige, so I'm kinda used to the feel. However, the focus hex ultra never felt uncomfortable on the prestiges... Strung on the same tension, Btw (22kg).

Luxilon is very expensive around here, I would prefer to find something cheaper.

I'm coming from an i. Prestige.

I've tried hyper g on a friend's blade and it felt absolutely powerless, but he had it strung at 55 lbs. Didn't feel very uncomfortable for such a high tension, Btw...
Maybe I would have enjoyed it more on a lower tension.

I never tried Wilson revolve and head lynx before. I guess I'll give a shot on the Wilson first. Thanks for your input!

I am a 4.5 player who recently switched from pure aero to Blade v7 18x20 and settled with Yonex Poly Tour Pro (1.20, yellow). I tried about a dozen strings with the racket and somehow didn't like the feel of shaped polys (e.g. Hyper G/Tour Bite/Max Power Rough). For comfort and power, I also recommend gut/poly or syn/poly hybrids. (I use a VS Touch/YPTP hybrid and it's fantastic in comfort, power, control, and tension maintenance)

I'm not sure how you hit or how flat, but try maybe 48/46 in 17 gauge if you use a decent amount of spin and adjust from there.

I did a long term demo of the v7 blade 98 18x20 when they first came out and what worked best was 17 gauge Tourna Silver 7 Tour strung at about 44 pounds. Excellent tension maintenance and cheap. The string will feel consistent and good until about the last hour or two before it breaks.

Funny timing I just strung that exact frame 18x20 Blade v7 with Silver 7 Tour 1.25mm on Sunday for a buddy at 51 lbs.. His choice on the tension. He seems to like the string and the frame.
