Is it difficult to string because of the clamshell bumper guards?

No, the CAP grommets/bumperguard don't make it hard to string at all. It's the dense string pattern that slows people down... Some blocked holes are hard to get to, but it's not too bad.

I asked my new stringer if my Prestige Tour mids were tough to string, he said no, but the LM Prestige mid is a pain. Not sure why that is though, I didn't really ask about the difference.

Just from personal experience, everytime I took my LM Prestiges for stringing the most painful thing to do for them was the very last shared hole before the tie off because of the confined space in the CAP Grommet. Shouldn't be any problem at all if they have the right awl or can cut the string at a nice angle, or if you use anything smaller tha 16L. Guess I gave them hell with 16L BB ALU Rough 'cause not only would it not fit, it would twist while they were trying to get it in the hole!
