Hello Craig and welcome.
I think your questions would get more exposure and answers it you started a new thread.
Thanks Dan
I already got my new racquet and went with the Babolat Excel 17g strings. I just got it the week and havent used it as of yet but I surely can't wait to taek a few cracks with it. Anyway I have done my studying on Racquets and strings so I think I will be just fine.
Hello everyone.
I am new on here and looking for some advise on strings.. I am going to purchase a new Head Crossbow 2 racket!!!
Oh JEEZ! I hope I'm not too late! The Crossbow is the WORST design Head has ever come up with. It has VERY special stringing instructions and someone who doesn't have access to these can mess it up badly! (...like break it?)
Figure I'll give this thread its first post of the year.
I'll (hic) take the fifth!
DireDesire,
I did not realize you linked to string playtest threads in this one. Maybe you can put the links I have in post #1 of the thread below into post #1 of this thread:

Linked to the thread itself... you'd better keep it up to date... (reviewing the sticky just reminded me how crappy it is... I should revamp that soon...)

Anyone want to throw in some ideas for a revamped sticky?
This section changed to Strings only since this sticky was created. What content do you want to see in here? What ARE the most common string questions that you're tired of answering?
I'll probably do something about string composition, technologies (generalities, here), string patterns, stiffness, tools available (link to TW's tools).
Stringing techniques/patterns will probably fall under the machines/techniques sub-forum, but i'll probably cross link the two FAQs.
Please submit your ideas if you have any!
Edit: If anyone wants to write a comprehensive FAQ and volunteer to maintain it, I'd be A-OK with that, too
Sounds like a lot of work to me!

No offense intended. I always thought the blue face was just a friendly smile looking up at a post. Upon pointing at it, I see it means "sarcastic". I didn't realize that. Sorry if I gave the wrong impression.
I've removed all my blue faces from recent posts.
I turn 60 years old in a few weeks. I guess I'm not as up on my smiley faces as I should be.
Best Wishes.
Not a problem, I've always found you to be a genuinely good natured, helpful contributor, I just never understood the smileysI've removed all my blue faces from recent posts.

I was a little confused too! Thanks for the clarification.
Sorry mikeler. I just used the wrong smiley.
No problem, just a miscommunication.

are they ever going to update this website? There are so many new strings that aren't in this list that I am very interested in the stiffness of the strings and tension loss.
The January edition this year updates the newest strings of the last 2 years only. Note you can now download this as a PDF for easier viewing.

Thanks mikeler.
For convenience. The first link, although older, is more searchable. This link is much newer:
