Supination during FH

Couldn’t read all of the replies but I believe it is what you are doing with your shoulder that affects whether this grip or that grip will work. My shoulder can not rotate into a position that will allow me to hit with a western grip anywhere but into the ground. Very uncomfortable for me. People do the same thing with their shoulder every forehand stroke, for the most part. That is where the consistency comes from. Yeah, if you made someone that always hits with a western grip and always pretty much maxes out their external shoulder rotation on the forehand hit with an eastern, they’d hit them all out of the court. Maybe over the fence. No matter what grip they switch to they will do the same thing shoulder-wise. So, once the shoulder and grip are matched up the natural supination will just happen when you flip the racquet.

Wishful thinking if you really believe you'll ever hit this kind of advanced technique for any given length of time.
There is nothing advanced about what he is doing technique-wise. The fact that he can do it running his ass at top speed all over the court, while lunging, jumping, having hit twenty balls already, is what makes him special. Wishful thinking is believing you can do this:

You talking about Thiem, Medvedev and the likes?

Sure, why not? You ever see Thiem or Shapavolov hit a jumping one-hander? If it was so technical, that wouldn’t be possible. I’ve seen Dustin Brown do it and he doesn’t even hit a one-hander normally. Basketball players jump when they shoot. Golfers no. One isn’t that technical, the other is.

Well basketball players jump to:
  1. Not get blocked
  2. Get more strength
