Hi Chris,

I currently play with the PS300 (with a leather grip) and I am also familiar with the Textreme Tour 100 (310).
I am looking for an update - eyeing the TF40 or the Phantom Pro 100P.
Kindly please share your insights on these two racquets.
Also, would the TF40-305 work well with a leather grip to make it more HL.

Thanks,
Vik

I like both racquets but they appeal to me for different reasons. The TF40 305 has a more direct feel as it offers up a firmer response. Somehow it also manages to feel smooth and I love the connection to the ball I have with it. The Phantom offers a more classic feel, is superbly comfortable and loaded with control.
Both are great touch, feel and control racquets. Both leave ample room for me to customize if desired.
I think the choice is going to come down to which feel/response you prefer but either way it's a win win as both feel great, just different.
Yes, the TF40 305 plays great with a leather grip. I have installed Fairway grips on all of mine. I love the tack of that leather so I'm playing them without an overgrip.
Cheers,
Chris, TW

Thanks a lot Chris. But I have a follow-up question...

It takes quite some time for me to appreciate a racquet, so I normally do not demo them...
I just buy them based on reviews - especially your reviews, which has been spot on for me so far.

The highlight of 300PS, for me, has been its Maneuverability, Spin and Power.
Same for the Prince 310, which I enjoy playing with as well, but I just win lot more points with the 300PS.
So my question is, what can I expect with the TF40-305 or the Prince 100P, as compared to the 300PS or the Prince 310.

Kindly please also share your favorite string setup on the TF40 and the Prince 100P.

Thanks,
Vik

The PS300 is very fast feeling which was also one of my favorite things about it. However, I'm hitting better angles with the TF40 305. It's not a huge bump in weight or swingweight (5 grams and 10 points, respectively). I think the fast feel and added control of the 18x20 is getting it done for me.

The Prince 310 has that similar blend of magic -- fast, great feel and yet still feels solid. I just prefer the TF handle shape.

With both you are going to lose some of that free power you get from the 300 PS, but what you get back is better feel, comfort and control.

I'm stringing my TF40 305 racquets at 48 lbs. I have 4 strung up with different set ups as we use our regular racquets for string testing and unfortunately I can't recommend any of them at this point as they are all preproduction. With that said I'd likely go with some proven go to choices such as Cyclone, Hyper G or Big Banger Original Rough.

Hope that helps,
Chris, TW

TW/Chris,

Ref: TF40

Looking at the specs, the 315 just seems to be a little more handle-heavy than the 305 (the grip is the same tho: maybe some silicone in the hairpin?)

So, as a heavy-stick player, my question would be:

Is there any reason to pick the 315 over the 305?

If the 305 is the "standard" TF40, while the 315 is just the "already tweaked up" version, I'd want to go with the 305—I don't want to risk a change in feel/response just to simplify getting to my preferred SW & MgR/I values. It almost seems they made the 315 for people who don't tweak their stick, but I'm totally at home with lead tape, poster-tack, steel bearings, weighing overgrips, &c.

Cheers,
/Acey
