Can throw the ball over the fence. 104

Wow. 104!

We got some very good throwers here!

Getting a light tennis ball that slows down really quickly in the air, up and over a high fence...

If we were talking about golf balls I still might believe it, but a tennis ball?

I'm not denying thefact that a baseball player or someone who throws well would be able to do it, but 104 baseball players...

Unbelievable.

lol i think you're either underrating yourself or overrating the length of a tennis court and the back fence's height

surely you played catch with a tennis ball back in primary/highschool at some point in your life? and from that you would know that a tennis ball is fairly easy to throw far

I can throw the ball from one baseline to the opposite baseline of the same court about 78'. Is that average for a 16 year old or am I physically weak?

im not sure if age matters, but im only 5"5', which is very very short, and i can get a tennis ball over the back fence from the baseline - however my serve sucks ass.

I can throw a ball over the fence... but my friend can only throw the ball to the opposite service line and his serve is consistenly 10-15 mph faster than mine.

I can't throw it over the net. Not even with a racquet. I think I might be hitting too flat. Maybe I'll switch to a Western grip and a Western wrist so I can hit and throw with a bigger margin of error.

Stop! If you get too wristy, you won't get any more dates! ;) Better to keep your balls close to home too....

If someone can serve flat at 120 mph, how far can he throw a tennis ball.
If another person can serve flat at 80 mph, how far can he throw a tennis ball.

Football, today, first toss, NO warmup or stretching, over 55 yards, but I'm getting old and feeble lately. From goal line to well over the 50 yard mark, but not quite the 40. I'm old.
Long distance toss is with a 3 step approach. Like an outfielder's throw compared to a baseball pitcher's.
Tennis court, easy over a 20' high fence with a tennis ball, but not against any wind.
Service, easy over 115, but I was timed well over 125 when I was 27 years old, like 3 decades ago.

Over 55 yards with a regulation football?? Is this estimated or you did it on a football field?
This is impressive!

Yeah, the NFL $120 Spauldings actually go a few yards farther, but I haven't thrown one since the late '80's. They have pointier noses, more dense, and exactly 9lbs. of air.
Consider. JohnElway can throw 80 yards, as can SteveMcNair and I assume, JamarcusRussell. That's with a half step QB's motion.
When I was a 5' tall 100lbs'er, I could throw 70 yards with an outfielder's motion, 5 steps, like a javelin thrower. Never tried QB's motion because Coach never let me play QB with MikeHolmgren our enscounched starter.
As I grew almost a foot and 50 lbs., I could throw farther, of course.
Yeah, 7th grade softball throw, me well under 65lbs and maybe 4' tall, 180'.

My girlfriend Isabelle who is 20 can't even throw a tennis ball over the net from the baseline. Is that normal?

How are her throwing mechanics? Perhaps her arm is too tight or she is trying to muscle the ball over. Does she get her elbow back and use body rotation properly? If her elbow comes forward too early, she might be able to effectively transfer her power from her legs & hips to the torso and, finally, to throwing arm.

Tennis balls were not designed to be thrown. They are too light and you can really hurt your arm trying to throw a tennis ball a long distance.

obviously it is normal for her. people vary based upon athletic background, technique, etc., etc.

the tennis racquet works like a nunchuka (not sure how that is spelled) and I notice that *all* of the players that toss out wrist bands, etc., to the crowd do not use their shoulders much ... they look as tho they are saving them for tennis.

again countries that throw baseballs and footballs are a bit ahead, but everything can be learned. :)

you are pretty dumb if you think i think throwing a tennis ball more than the length of a tennis court requires only strength. throwing a tennis ball requires very little strength, it's not a shotput, and i'm sure your 100mph scrawny server can throw farther than the other end of the service line if he really serves 100mph. throwing the tennis ball very much like serving a tennis ball is more about arm speed and the throwing motion. if anyone is claiming they know someone who can serve 100-110+mph and can't throw the length of the court then they are ********.
My tennis coach Jorge can serve at over 120 mph but yet he can't throw a tennis ball to the fence using max effort.

I hope you're joking here.... you're getting all kinetic chain on a girl that can't throw?

Tell her to practice a few times for a few days, she'll get there. If she chooses to play tennis regularly and gets all keen, maybe *then* think about a full-body analysis of the throw.

I played the same game with my coach and he tried to throw the ball over the fence into the next court over but he just couldn't do it. Nevertheless I clocked his serve at 113 mph.

I dont get it. I can clear the fence by alot, but I doubt I can serve over 90mph. :-?

A great throwing arm is nice to have, but you still have to learn the technique of swinging a racket fast to hit the ball into the opposition's service court.

No, not joking. A good throw requires good technique and kinetic chain. Was trying to ascertain why "the girl can't throw". All the practice is the world is not going to help very much if her technique is seriously flawed and she can't figure out why. Some ppl will fugure it out with practice, many will not.

Same thing with tennis strokes. Many ppl have been playing & practicing 2 or 3 decades at a 3.0/3.5 level because they never really learned proper mechanics. They've practiced flawed mechanics for so long, it is difficult for them to correct these flaws.
