Tennis Players in Forbes Celebrity 100 List

I'm not surprised. Sharapova's been getting an onslaught of endorsements since her Wimbledon win. Federer is like Sampras in that he lets his racquet do the talking, so he is not really interested in other things. Roddick should get on that list pretty soon.

read this month's issue of espn magazine and you will know. Maria is on that list because of all the endorsements like gametime said. And her market as i read, extends very much world wide. Roddick is on the good looking male tennis player list but has yet to capture the global audience like maria. As far as federer, the magazine explains that he is barely even noted in his home town. Only tennis fans really know his name. In a way roger is like the Tim Duncan of tennis. MVP caliber, but not celebrity material.

Hmmm....interesting thanks! That is a good question, where is Roger? This is a 2005 list.

Mr. Swiss' swiss bank accounts are probably hidden from Forbes. Plus I am sure the cow Federer has locked up in a Swiss bank vault doesn't count for much.

Roddick? Not sure, but how could Davenport be in front of him?

I grin when looking at this list.....to see guys like Mickelson under an "athletes" list....the guy has a beer belly and could not bear 10 min of demanding physical activity....which is the essence of an athlete. The guy would not last 10 seconds as an athlete back in greek and roman times.....wow, our society.

The most athletic on that list is def. Vick. The guy is one big muscle.....and can move like nothing I have ever seen. Imagine him playing tennis....with some technique of course.

Well, as someone said, I don't think that Federer is exactly celeb material.

Probably won't see him on these lists any time soon, which is fine with me. Shriekapova certainly, maybe Roddick.

And golfers generally don't seem like athletes physically, but mentally they have to be tough. Golf is far more mental than physical, I think. Along with Tiger, there are some that would seem physically like athletes. Mental stuff is more their forte.

Wow how the mighty have fallen... (due to rule changes and engineering)

I'm pretty sure I remember last year Schumi was #1 on that list...err maybe just in pay. Just out of sight.

edit...
Ok i just looked up '04s numbers...#4 pay-wise. guess i was wrong. Still...woe is Mikey. Might have to sell some Monaco turf or something to survive. ha

Matt Hasselbeck? He is the second quarterback to Mike Vick on that list? You have got to be kidding me.

Exactly.....the list is not as accurate as we might believe it to be. Clearly P. Manning should be on that list around Vick's status!

I agree with you. Fed is not a very recognizable figure, outside the tennis world. This doesn't bother me either. Federer has his mind on the sport.....no so much on the "hey look at me I'm a big time athlete." Roddick isn't even that big of a name in the US. A friend of mine did not even recognize Agassi for a name! However, almost everyone I know, knows the William sisters.
