All you guys that made fun of me this morning... I actually did go and see the doctor today because that Dizziness this morning felt very unusual. It turns out that my Blood pressure was 155 over 112. 155/112. This is dangerously high. My doctor said I need to start on medication right away. I told him I really hate taking blood pressure medication because they can take away my performance on the tennis court or in the bedroom. and he said, None of that will matter if I have a stroke or heart attack because of this high BP. So I did agree to start on one BP medication for now.

so don't take dizziness lightly.

I was put on BP medicine when I did a random check and it was 160/120 and the pulse was 105. No other symptoms whatsoever. Turned out that my father had been diagnosed with exactly the same numbers 30 years prior to that, with no other symptoms. The doctor suspected a huge genetic factor and put me on Atenolol 50 just like my father plus Lisinopril 10 mg.

One side effect is that you will sometimes talk nonsense in your sleep due to livid dreams.

I have been taking Lisinopril along with Atenolol for years for my BP

Any side effects with Lisinopril ?? it seem to be working really well so far. even after just few days, my BP is down to 115/ 81. But I do feel more tired and had diarrhea. Will these side effects go away in time as long as I don't increase the dose ?? and is there any side effect with Weight gain ?

I should try this pre-match warmup at the risk of looking silly. I was told by USPTA pro that this really helps to get the blood flowing in your legs and body and helps to eliminate nervousness as well. RAFA isn't just doing this to intimidate his opponents.

You were not prescribed a beta blocker at all, like Atenolol? Only Lisinopril?

Your body will adjust.

yes, only lisinopril. I am lucky that I am responding well to one medication so far. I doubt I can tolerate atenolol. My doctor said if lisinopril alone isn't enough , he will add diuretic like Hydrochlorthiazide.

Just one other issue I noticed with Lisinopril,,, I feel like I am having little more difficulty with Erections after I started lisinopril. did you have this side effect ? and does this also get better in time ? Thanks

I did not notice this effect, but then I had no choice but to take the medicines. The doctor actually spoke to my father over the phone and concluded that it was a severe case of bad genetics. He was about to hospitalize me, and it turned out that the same suggestion was made to my father when he had walked in casually and was found to have 160/120 with a pulse of 105. So the doctor said this is for life and don't even think about it.

@ollinger Hey ollinger, are Nosty's erection problems normal? What can he do to rise to the occasion?

just one other question, but did you have any issues with weight gain after you started enalapril ? this isn't a common problem but small % of the people do complain about it.

As long as you were overweight before the medication started and it didn't get worse, medication didn't contribute to it.

Patients taking lisinopril may experience dry cough, dizziness, diarrhea, chest pain, and fatigue, but few report erectile dysfunction (ED) as a side effect. Since lisinopril increases blood flow, erectile dysfunction is a rare side effect and less than 1% of people taking lisinopril report that they experience ED as a side effect.

The sitting down part was trivial for me, so I got a 5 on that. However, I had a little difficulty on the standing up. With the use of one hand it was trivial. So I can easily score a 9.

But of course, I wanted to get a 10, so I tried standing up with my hands together and no help. Perhaps due to a lack of flexibility at the waist (my hip mobility is good), I tend to fall backwards when standing up without using a hand. So I tried to just power up quickly and popped up off the floor and then wildly smashed into a wall.

The only mobility exercise I really work on is doing an Asian squat, which is hampered not due to hip flexibility but because of an ankle dorsiflexion issue because of an old ankle sprain. I'd like to be able to drop into a deep squat and stay in that position without falling backwards. Being able to get into a deep squat and then back up, even in old age, is probably a more practical position than with ankles crossed.

I realize crossing the ankles makes standing up more difficult in the test, but I don't see the relevance to normal life. I can never recall crossing my ankles to stand up when getting off the floor.

The simple exercise of sitting down and standing up again without holding onto anything, could suggest how long you have to live.

This is the belief of a group of physicians, who came up with the ‘sitting-rising test’ to measure their patients’ flexibility and strength.

They developed a scoring system for the test and found that people who scored three points or less out of 10, were more than five times as likely to die within six years, as those who scored more than eight points.”

The easiest way to disprove this theory is to find a zombie and train him to do the move.

Yah, they'll send you a check.

Do the test and if not satisfied with your results we will refund your purchase!

Yeah, doesn't make much sense. About as much sense as when I ask for a court refund from the tennis center after not playing well. The behind the counter lady always rolls her eyes at me for that one.

It's just another exercise that takes a little practice to do.

You could die getting hit by a bus tomorrow.

Or you could get a fatal infection from a variety of sources.

It looks like it tries to test anaerobic fitness using a single metric. It kind of reminds me of a turkish getup.

I'd guess the average person, who is more and more likely these days to be sedentary and obese, would struggle.

I keep forgetting about those folks.

In the thread about pushups and pullups, to me, it's just about working at it.

If you want to be able to do 30 pushups, do 30 bench presses at a weight that you can handle and 3-minute planks. Then slowly increase the weight of the bench presses until it's comparable to doing a pushup. Just be sure to do them daily.

For pullups, use an assisted pullup machine. Do them every day until you can do them unassisted and then work your way up. Of course with pullups, it doesn't work well if you're overweight. Weight probably affects pushups too but the folks on these forums workout a lot.

I do Yoga Poses for balance because I had two falls last year. It took a bit of time to be able to get into the poses and then to do them until they became easy.

Yesterday I was weak and tired hitting tennis balls for an hour. I had run four miles in the morning. The main reason for feeling tired, though, was that I hadn't eaten for two days. I need to time my meals a bit better.

I also stay at a 4 star hotel that offered free continental breakfast bar which was unsupervised! Many of us grabbed at least two danish and/or fruit rolls along with two glasses of fresh squeezed orange juice along coffee!
