I've been here about two years and I've seen this come up maybe 4 times.
But does Novak actually say anything useful?

Not really, haha. In fact, some of the advice is just wrong. However, I think it might be useful in the sense that it's what Novak FEELS like is important.

For example, he says the wrist and legs are the two most important parts on the serve. We know you don't really use the wrist, but it means Novak feels like he's using the wrist.

Nice point here RE: feel. Most pros are "feel based" in that they developed their games by hitting a ton of balls vs studying technique and then applying what they learned. So their explanations of what's going on for a particular stroke don't always match up with what's actually happening / necessary to hitting properly.

That said, Novak comes off as very friendly and likable in the video. Sure, it's a few years old but I re-watched the whole thing because he's engaging. Glad he's done well recently. Will make Indian Wells more intriguing... anyone going BTW? We'll be there.

A little off topic ( sorry OP ) but now that I see you here =):

Will, I love the slow motion footage, but leave some
at real speed , before I go to the court I always look
at some of the videos, specially the one with Cilic and
Soderling ( http://www.fuzzyyellowballs.com/robin-soderling-and-marin-cilic-practicing/ ), I love the way they hit so relaxed and I like
watching the speed and trajectory of the ball.
With slow motion I can see all the detail of the technique and
analyze it, but with regular speed I think is embedded on my
subconscient as a whole and makes the learning more intuitive.

Thanks and good filming =)

Haha, I thought I was the only one who liked the faster speed videos as opposed to the slow motion ones! I also love to watch the relaxed warmup videos and watch the swing path and the ball trajectory just like you Migelowsky.

We actually have sooooooooooo much normal-speed footage from last year that we haven't had time to edit. Like, a crazy amount. We've been toying with the idea of hiring someone just to edit video for us and I think we're going to pull the trigger on that after this year's IW. We just don't have time to do it.

Thanks for the suggestions!

you just made what i consider to be a majorly important comment. in tennis, we often THINK we are doing this or that, when we are not. and that is what an instructor or teaching aid can do for us. i had some wrist problems, and had to make damn sure my forehand form was good, and one of the things i did was train with brad gilberts wrist assist, so that when i was hitting without a coach i knew my wrist was laid back set and relaxed. now, here is an interesting thing that happened. some good club players were curious to try it, and some could not hit a ball! they were surprised to find out that they were doing things with their wrists that they had not been aware of, etc.
what we feel like we are doing is often not what is actually happening.
watching fuzzyyellowballs.com and video taping yourself can often point out some dramatic problems.

Would it killyou to film Nalbandian just once?:)
