The AO organizers should really speed up the courts

That's what they did this year, it's as of now the fastest court on tour, its CPI is ~50 iirc but I hope they slow it down a bit for next year. Medium or medium fast is the way to go.

Ironically, fast courts will favour the old guys who can’t run for hours anymore. I don’t care either way.

It is just good for tennis and it will prevent a debacle. Speed up the courts. Save the cheerleader(TM). I mean... Save tennis, save the world(TM).
you mean you cant stand it that again no american serve bot won in their home country? and now you want them to have a better change in australia?

Not sure that helps Brooksby, anyway. Or Fritz, or Tommy Paul, or Tiafoe. It will help Opelka and Mackie, but I don't see them reaching the finals of the AO quite yet.

If anything fast courts help Djokovic more than slow courts these days because of his serve, he just bots his way through Wimbledon and AO this year

Djokovic might have problems on slow courts now if he gets taken to may 4-5 set matches, Zverev grinded him down then he had nothing left in the F. Yeah USO wasn't slow but on slow courts this will be amplified more

Not sure about that...Zverev and Medvedev also have decent serves, which arguably did the most damage to Nole at this USO. They would both prefer faster courts, I would think.

People saying it was the fastest Slam last year? But is that because it was or because standards have fallen?

What about RG? I believe it still slower than most HCs.

The number one issue they need to address at AO is the dead, low bounce.

Medvedev was teeing off on waist height balls in New York. Those same rally shots were around his ankles in Melbourne.

Would love to see a lively deck with high bounce that takes spin.

You didn’t give an explanation for why it is good for tennis and what debacle it will prevent. Care to comment further?

The best fast-court player in the world is Djokovic and he wins the AO in most years that he is in good form anyway. This year was the fastest AO surface according to him and he beat both his young hard court rivals in Zverev and Medvedev while recovering from injury.

It's not fast enough, it needs to be faster and higher bouncing. And if possible in gale wind conditions. That is good for the tennis.

I think USO was faster than AO this year, though. Wasn't it?

I doubt it. In past years, the AO Court speed index was around 42-43 while the USO has been around 35. This year, the AO surface index was reputed to be around 50 with many players saying it was the fastest ever they’ve played on. I doubt that the US Open would have been more than 40 even assuming that it was faster than prior years.

And yet Djokovic didn't get a whiff of all those Medvedev's serves.

why not have an average speed over the years unless change with a reason for the sport as a whole? if the faster the better, maybe table tennis would suit u more

Start with lobbying to end the lockdowns/quarantines because there will be no AO 2022 if players have to quarantine again. Then worry about court speed.

Australia is very strict. If Australia does not change its alarmist attitude, and start treating visitors as guests and not criminals, there will be a boycott.

If Cincinnati can be moved to NYC, Melbourne can be moved to Dubai.

Australian Open star Paula Badosa has taken a fresh swipe at the hotel quarantine program following her positive test for COVID-19 in hard lockdown.
The Spanish star claims she was treated like a “criminal” by Australian authorities and described the experience as a “nightmare” and horrible.

Without conceding that Paula Badosa is an “Australian Open star” or speculating on whether she is a criminal independently from the Oz authoritarian Covid protocols, the AO ignores Raul’s threat of a player boycott at its own very real peril.
