The key for Nadal to beat Djokovic is to spin his forehand extremely high and heavy into Djokovic's backhand. Even on the low-bouncing courts of the 02's WTF indoor surface, Djokovic was struggling to hit a backhand when Nadal's forehand reared up over his head height. He would hit it long or dump it into the net.
I truly believe the key for Nadal to beat Djokovic is to go into absolute trance/robot mode, and hit 100% of shots into Djokovic's backhand, heavy and high. Not to cough up a short ball and then attack the forehand. Not attacking the forehand to open up the backhand.
Just drill the backhand over and over.
Nadal can hit a 4900rpm forehand. He should make every one of his forehands 4900rpm, and make it clear the net by 3 meters or higher, bouncing close to the baseline, and bombing some 7ft into the air.
This will break Djokovic's spirit and dislocate his shoulders. Plus, it plays into the way that Nadal plays every other opponent. By NOT adapting for Djokovic, he will give himself a confidence boost.
