I just replaced the pallet on one austrian PT 280, and one PT630 (star trek font), They both has the red foam which is the IDS with shock absorption material ultrasorb.

Tandayu do you know how to remove the pallet without damaging it? thank you:)

Do you guys think that red foam is just gimmick? I replaced a few of the pallets on my pt280, I can't tell the differences.

I played with the pt280 all my life it is absolutely my favorite racquet no question. I was given a couple when I was about 12 years old and I played with them through out high school. I been out of the game for a while and while trying to find replacements for my old pt's (one cracked other ?) I've come to realize the racquet has a following and I will not be able to afford replacements. Is there any racquet in the market today that plays similar to the pt280? If not whats the closest thing?

thanx

Having used the PT280 for about 10yrs now, I asked a very similar question a month or so ago on this forum. Check this out and I hope it helps.

I did demo the Microgel Prestige Pro and found that to my liking. Not exactly the same racquet as the PT280 though...

Thanks bro, I would like to be able to buy one of these pt 280's but iv'e seen them going for 350 and up. Pretty ridiculous when you consider that they used to sell for about 70 at sports auth. Iv'e tried the dunlop 200 ag didn't like it, the technifibre tflight 320 is nice but stiffer than the 280, complemented my one hand backhand though, the k six one wans't too shabby, the mg prestige mp contrary to popular opinion on this forum plays pretty nice, not as lively as the pt 280 but still delivers great control. I guess until I run into a my pt 280 the prestige will have to do, not a bad second choice

ahi estan las fotos de las que yo tenia. De ultima, comprate varios sets de groomets aca en TW, te van a salir lo mismo o menos que en buenos aires (contando el costo mas el envio, por ahi no te cobran impuestos por que es algo barato).

What racquet would be a 57E, with REAL flexpoint holes?
the 57E is supposed to be the Intelligence prestige mold...but real flexpoints??

Variations among pt 280

I was wondering if anyone could give info regarding variations with the pt 280's? As stated before i own a couple pt 280 which are in bad condition. I recently purchased one that is slightly more head light with a different spec font.I assume that over the years they made slight modifications to the racquet. If anyone has more info on this subject I would really appriciate it.

Thank you,

Head Premier Tour

Heard that the Head Premier Tour is also a PT280. Is this correct as I used this when I played college? I still have all 4 of them with 4 1/2 grip and in pretty good condition. Guga used to use them when he won the French. Thanks.

I made the switch to the Technifibre 320 with added lead tape. My sticks weigh 12.2 ounces and are the closest thing I've found to my PT280s. Cheers.

Yeah bro I hear ya, I demoed the tflight 320 and I played well with it. Great frames. Alot of the college players I talk to are using them and they highly recommended them. Ive been using mg prestige mp, its a bit to light for me but with a bit of lead tape it plays pretty awesome, all that said I recently ran into a pt280 in mint condition so im going back to using the pt280, hopefully I run into some more at a decent price

I have a CAP grommet from a HEAD Liquidmetal Prestige Midplus. Do you know if that will fit on the original HEAD Radical 280 midplus?

I am trying to install a CAP grommet on this racquet...

It should work. I think there was a thread entitled some thing like: "I capped a bumble bee" or something like that where the guy did what you are looking to do. I'm not sure how it would change the frame --considering that you are essentially adding about 15g more to the head of the frame than regular grommets. Try it out and let us know.

PS this is the PT 630 thread NOT the Radical thread...

The C.A.P. Grommets from the LM Prestige MP will fit the the Radical Tour 260 MP. The Radical Tour 260 MP, Pro Tour 630/280, and Radical Tour TwinTube 630 are all from the same mould.

Yup, it should fit. You might want to heat it up with a hair dryer for a bit and then try to install it.

One thing though, the CAP will dramatically increase the swing weight and change the balance point. So, watch your stroke, swing, and timing...

I tried putting in the CAP grommet on my PT 630 and it is really hard to do. So if you heat up the grommet with a hair dryer it will make it soft and easy to install right?

use the tip of the awl to "pick" align the grommet holes properly before pushing the next one in, (start from throat and work your way up, do not P r i c k your finger:)

If tips of the used grommets are flared due to damage from knot, hold tip over candle lightly and "mold" straighten grommet into cone like shape so they can fit.

i'm playing fairly well with the rqis 1 tour these days, now that my wrist has healed a bit. I miss hitting with a pro tour 280...wish I could try the 630. and come to think of it, I never really tried your low tension tiny string gauge setup :x

chopstick,

Now that's a f****** racket right there!... the legendary, highly esteemed Rad Tour Twin Tube, '98 model, if I'm not mistaken... the one many felt was the best ever Rad Tour incarnation... wo - what a looker that one is!... a fantastic frame from the b-line... great pics...

BTW, Shall be interested to hear how you get on with the MW 200G and how it compares in your view to the PT (any chance of a mini-review?)

BTW2, You ever hit with the i. Prestige MP? I like the whole little 'family', ie the PT630, the i. Prestige, the Rad Tours (I've never hit with the PC 600), and think the i. Prestige has a lot to commend it.

sorry but didn't get a chance to hit too much with the dunlop.....for the few minutes i used it, i noticed the sweetspot was a little lower than what i'm used to hitting....it feels prety good but still is no pt280 in my opinion....my tecnifibre 3320 feels a litte bit more like it only a little bit lighter...nothing a little bit of lead tape won't fix....i find that the TT radical has better feel than the dunlop...the ball feels crisper too on the radical...again, i'll have to hit with the 200g a little more.....i haven't hit with a pt280 in a long time, but i may even prefer the feel of the tt radical over it.....

Interesting. Going back a while, I purchased both at around the same time. Have to say I preferred the 200g MW to the PT 630 for a bit more of an all court game and menouverability, plus I served with real zip and power with the MW too. However, as I was still more of b-liner the PT won out over the Dunlop in my affections - I consider the PT to be just phenomenally good from the b-line. That said, I didn't properly settle with the PT 630 (although I went back to it lately for another period) and have just switched again to a frame I feel I can serve bombs with, get excellent topspin with, and is also pretty good for feel, touch, volleying, etc. IMO though, along with the i. Prestige and the Rad Tours, these are simply fantastic, wonderfully made, and slightly alike frames.

Silly question, but to all PT 280/630 experts- is this racket suitable for TE? I've had this quite badly for the last 3 months and can only play with PK rackets at the moment. Thanks!

If you have TE from vibrations, then the PT will stop that! Its got good weight, and flex to it --which should absord a lot of shock. If your TE stems from over-use, then no frame will "cure" your TE and you need to just take a brake to heal your elbow. Best of luck. :)

Wow that was a steal by today's standards. I know the shipping is costly, and it will take some time to arrive. However, it will be worth the wait! :)

...glad to find this club!

...have returned to the PT 280 after years of using pro staff 6.0/classic6.1... used to hit with the 280 years ago... but wondering if y'all can discuss string tension/string types you prefer... I'm used to tighter strings on the 6.0 frame, woould love to hear your thoughts!

I have my PT280 strung with Babolat Pro Hurricane Tour - originally at 59lbs. I really like this string so far. It seems to provide nice ball bite and a crisp feel. Also, it looks really good against the blue frame.

I think I may try a hybrid next time around.

just an FYI, the new MG Rad bumper and grommets are a PERFECT FIT for the 630 mold -- I just installed a set on my Trisys 260 and there was no overhang, unlike the Ti.Rad bumper.

I'm of the notion you can string this frame a bit looser and still retain that control. My setup is found in my signature...

Hello,

I'd like to join the club. May I? So glad to find you and so unexpected.

3 x PT 630 made in Austria

BTW could you pls inform about the difference (beyond the protectors):

- one with "made in Austria" on the throat/handle
- two with "made in Austria" on the side

the second look much lighter than the 1st. Is there any difference in the frame (weight, material) between these two?

Thanx in advance
