not only they dropped twaron but the frame felt "cheap" flimsy to us purists many would attest to my conclusions
Agree
In addition, Michael already tested many thousand frames, usually it is easy just to listen to his review, he already did the hard work for us the readers

I too am used to frames that are very HL and have played with the most HL prestige Mids before my PT630. Which is why I used to fancy the more HL batches of the PT630 but now I like them all.
anyway, you can use Iprestige MP tapered CAPS that are a bit lighter than the original CAPS., just a thought
^^^^ ESP first welcome to TW, Second welcome to the club, third you may kneel before ZOD, fourth you have said nothing that we do not already know, and last but not least how can we help you and why are you here?
PS, sorry if you did not buy all the PT280's on the planet for $50, I too am a nob for not doing that. Are you blaming us for the increase in prices? I too wish the prices will go down.
To all:
Please the PT 280/630 sucks don't buy them, there........ do you feel better? hope the prices will go down tomorrow, am I that powerful?
^^^Thank you!
How can you help me? You can't, unless you can convince the people at Head to start manufacturing PT again in the original paint.
Why am I here? Because the PT 280 is my racquet, I chose this racquet out off all the racquets when I was 13. I was told it was too heavy for me but I insisted on having it. I didn't know anything about except that it was the best looking racquet I had ever seen. It is the racquet that I learned to play tennis with and it has sentimental value to me.
I am also here because I enjoy this thread, I enjoy reading everyones perspective in regards to this incredible racquet and I look foward to giving my perspective, even though it might sound redundant to an expert like yourself,
once again thank you for welcoming me to the club
First you have good taste and know what you want. Second, I have contacted Head and I have asked TW to contact HEAD. Sorry, it is not going to happen. But, we do have some ideas with few members of this board and maybe someday we will have them. Remember companies do read these boards And finally, we are looking forward to your review.
drakulie, try what Michael is suggesting, i.prestige MP tapered CAP, which you can get from TW. Make sure you ask them first regarding "tapered CAP" because there are also XL and Euro XL versions. Confusing!
If that still results in head heavy, try MG Prestige MP grommet which would for sure get the PT630 to about 8 points head light (strung).
I'm not used to head light sticks (8 points and above), so the PT280 with original grommet (about 6 points) is perfect for me but I sacrifice net play. I tried playing at 8 points but could never get a groove on with my forehand.
good luck!
You talk about pt 630 like hes the messiah, no offense pt 630 i'm sure you have skills, but someone should never decide what racquet to use just because of someone elses review. At the end of the day its just an opinion.
For example, when I was in high school I was the only one with a pt 280 and alot of my teammates that tried it thought it was a horrible racquet, my coach even said it was too heavy, too much flex and not enough power. Now I see people buying them for a fortune at auction sites because its the "greatest." Most of these people are just trying to follow trends making it costs an arm and a leg for those of us that actually like the racquet.
Some people on here dont like the chinese pt 280, either because of the feel and some because its chinese which makes it less prestiges. I think its a great solid stick and while it differ from the austrain it is by no means inferior.
In conclusion what I'm trying to say is everyone has a personal preference and while you might want to read a review you should always if possible test things out for yourself, to see what works for you.
Curious, who would win in a battle between the PT630 users and the PS85 users? I bet there are def. more PS85 fans though.
TW told me they're no longer carrying the i.prestige MP "tapered CAP" (tk57a)grommet - and that it's discontinued.
The XL version is simply the "bumper and grommet" non-CAP (even lighter), and I've been told it's also discontinued.
Anyone have information to the contrary (hopefully)?
I thought I can not help you unless.......what gives as a PT280 user you owe it to yourself to try a PT630, you probably have early batches of PT280,,,, there is not too much of a difference in terms of weight in general, try to find one with made in austria above the handle, they are a bit flexier and a bit lighter, you may like it betterBTW is there any difference between the PT 630 and the austrian 280?, besides the obvious (CAP). I have never played with a PT630 before.
Thanks

Fellow PT630'ers
check out who is testing a blacked out PT630
http://sports.yahoo.com/ten/photo?s...etty-tennis-davis-arg-rus-training&prov=getty
now why did I not give Melzer my black out PT630's
Try the i.Prestige MP. More power than the PT630, with more stability than the LM/FXP/MG Prestige. Ignore the ugly PJ.
Actually have tried the iP MP; didn't feel like any Head before or since to me. More like a PS but hollower and less feel; maybe the lack of twin tubes or Twaron or anything except the intelligence fibers. Hurt my wrist badly after an hour, vowed never to pick one up again. But appreciate the input.
I.prestige ugly paintjob? This is BLASPHEMY !
Agreed! I actually think its the coolest one of them.
Better than the PT 280? I guess there is no accounting for taste
Some help please...I just noticed the printing on my Mid Plus size frames: String Pattern 16 x 19. They are a misprint. These are made in Austria. Anyone else have the misprint of their frames and know the reason why?
Technically they're different molds...apples to oranges bro
ESP#1,
could you give a hint where to get the tapered iprestige MP CAP grommets?
i buy everything else from TW, but need a life-long supply of tapered CAP grommets.. mine are sc****d on most racquets already.
thanks
Who freaking cares! It's not like you are making a living playing tennis. I play with PT280 made in the 80's or 90's (am i right or wrong on this? ) and I don't feel jack about racquet fatigue.
Some of them are deeply scr aped at the head!
And yes, I take my tennis seriously, compete toughly, and at the same time, having loads of fun. I'm no gear junkie! Just go out there and hit! jeez!
Just got 2 of PT280 into my Head collection. I love them as much as Prestige Classic series. Let me join this club.
2x PT630
2x PT280
I should have joined a long time ago. I have 2 PT 280's one Austrian, one Chinese. Bought both of them off these boards about 5 years ago. Can't remember who sold them to me, but I owe them a debt, I've loved these racquets from the first hit. Thanks guys. BTW. what member # am I? lol
