This is the first time Novak Djokovic has played in a Grandslam final, with non of the big three as his opponent since he won his first Australia Open and defeating Jo Wilfred Tsonga in 2008.

This must make a difference in his mentality because he is not against fan favorites like Federer and Nadal and most of time the fans are rooting for those players when they play against Novak.

This French Open final was the first time where Novak felt the pressure of being the real favorite to win it without Nadal and Federer. This was the first time where all eyes were on Novak whereas in previous matches is was Federer. Nadal and even Murry going against Novak the world #1.

Do you think the momentum shift in Novak being the true favorite of the final affected the mentality of Novak.

I'm not sure, but I think Stan affected Novak an awful lot. When watching the match, I was mainly under the impression that Stanimal was giving Djokovic a lot of very severe problems, and that these problems put a lot of pressure on Djokovic. Overall, the backhands and forehands from Wawrinka were putting Djokovic under quite a lot of pressure and in the end Djokovic couldn't quite wrestle away the initiative - he was close though in that fourth set to turning the tide, potentially!

He lost 6/9 last slam finals. The reason he lost the other 5 besides this years RG is the same reason he lost yesterday.

When people are taking a dump on his competition now, they forget he had some of the toughest competition in slams before.

Although Murray isn't same level as fedal. He is probably a courier level player. So Djokovic had great competition at slam finals all the way until 2016 USO before which he started playing 1/0 slam winners in the finals.
