Tight full bed of NG vs hybrid

Would a tight full bed of NG play similar to a hybrid of NG mains and poly crosses?

I have been stringing NG mains at 62lb and Luxilon 4G crosses at 58lbs. I like a tight string bed but the NG mains make it very comfortable.

I decided to cut out my strings and restring before vacation instead of risking them breaking. When cutting the mains they obviously had very good tension left. When cutting the crosses you could tell the tension was mostly gone.
So... would stringing a full bed of NG at a much higher tension play similar to the hybrid I like? My thinking is better tension maintenance but similar play feel. Maybe it’s not possible l....

My arm hurts just reading the OP.

"Comfortable"?! You keep saying that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Man I used to play OGSM and MSV Focus Hex at 62/58, but that was like 18 gauge and amateur stringing skills so my actual tension was probably quite a bit lower.

IMO, you'd have to really increase the tension on a full bed of natural gut to compare to a hybrid with Lux 4G. A full bed of gut just has so much more power/pop.

How many hours are you getting out of your setup?

No, different launch angles, different types of shot's available with each.

My experience is that full gut is marginally better on 1st serve, volleys, & flat shots. (Good for serve & volley maybe)

Hybrid for everything else, more spin/control on groundstrokes, more spin on second serve, better for modern style of tennis played now.

Full gut 1.30 and Hybrid of 1.30 Gut/1.25 poly have similar launch angles, if anything I'd say the hybrid has a tad bit higher launch angle because of the thinner cross and the fact that poly loses tension more than gut.

Basically you can string them up pretty close in tension. I used to play with full gut at 64 lbs, but now I play with a hybrid at 62.

But to answer your question, full gut and a hybrid play completely different.

I used to play with fullbed gut for many years at 57 or 58 lbs. For the last two years, I’ve been playing with gut mains/poly crosses at 47/44 or 48/44 lbs. The gut/poly hybrid at low tension gives me way more spin and control than fullbed gut at much higher tension. I end up hitting and serving harder with the gut/poly hybrid because I swing out more freely due to the extra spin and lower launch angle.
