To federer fans, realize once and for all!

Roddick isn't fit to tie the shole laces of Nole. At least, Nole goes out on court with the mentality of a winner, no matter who he's playing. Contrast that to the losers attitude that Roddick possesses. CLassic case being when he said he doesn't mind losing 8 finals to Federer. Why bother to play if he doesn't mind losing?

What?? You think Roddick goes on court not to try to win? and this is based on what you see on television? Just because he has a losing record to Fed does not mean he does not want to win! Then the same thing applied to Djokovic because he keeps losing to Nadal...does that mean he does not go on court with the mentality of a winner? You logic is so bad that its not even funny...

Djokovic maybe more dramatic on court but in no way does that imply Roddick is not as motivated as him...These guys are all professional players! All of them are highly motivated to win!

VT!... perhaps you missed the key comment in my post. Roddick said he doesn't mind losing to Federer in 8 finals after losing the U.S Open 2006 final to Federer! This was when millions of people were watching, not some private remark he made to someone.

My comments about Roddick & Nole are not fueled by their respective H2H's against their key competitors but by their perspective of things. You think Roddick's comment reflects a winners mentality? If you do, I rest my case.

Any reference to that Roddick interview?

According to some people (I think you know who I'm referring to) saying Federer had a strong era is a patheitc, ridiculous opinion. Saying Federer isn't as good as he was is taking credit away from all the other players, and saying true stats about past players is considered trolling. Yawn.

Saying Roddick is better player than Djokovic is ridiculous. Saying Federer self destructs in all matches he loses is ridiculous. Saying Djokovic was lucky to win GS is ridiculous. Saying this "era" is weaker is ridiculous.

It's a little tough to deny Fed's legacy. Yes, he has a losing record against Nadal. Jesus, the guy was still dominant for a number of years and won many slam events.

There are many questions there. Search for "eight Grand Slam finals" and it'll take you to that particular part.

FYI, Jimmy Connors, Roddick's new coach at that time, was displeased with that remark. He called it bullsh*t!

This is how the interview was,

Q. I wonder if you could talk about how much you appreciated being where you were today as compared to this tournament
a year ago. Do you just appreciate being in that position more than you might have a couple years ago?

ANDY RODDICK: Yeah, yeah. I was real happy, you know. I woke up in a real good mood. I was really excited. Like we've
covered already, I had a lot of fun out there. I really did enjoy myself and I really did enjoy the experience.

You know, I just want to keep doing it. You know, if I lose to him in eight Grand Slam finals, that's fine. You throw enough crap against the wall, something's gonna stick one of these times.

I really did have a blast out there.

So you are going to base his entire career over that one statement he made after losing in the final after coming back from a slump?...The point is that you cannot make your claim based on one isolated comment. I think you are taking it a bit too seriously! I mean he also said,

I thought it was a pretty high level of tennis, especially those two middle sets. There wasn't much between us. I feel like I
gave myself a chance. I had some breakpoint opportunities there in the third and played some decent points on them. I
competed hard, you know. Disappointed, but I'm also proud of the two weeks that I had here.

I felt like I had him a little bit off for, you know, for a little bit of that third set, and it could have gone either way. You know,
so maybe I was flirting with it for a little bit.

Yeah, I mean, that was that was a big game. At that point, we were pretty much fighting tooth and nail.
You know, I just kept trying to fight and came up with some big serves when I needed to.

After losing to Fed in AO, he also said something along the lines of,

Q. You said this week that you thought the gap between you and Roger was closing, or at least wasn't getting any wider.
ANDY RODDICK: Yeah, not tonight.

Q. The next time you feel that, will you keep it to yourself?
ANDY RODDICK: No. Have I ever not answered a question honestly? That's honestly the way I felt. I'm not going to keep it to myself. You ask me a question, I'm going to give you an honest answer.

What do you want me to say? Do you want me to come in here and kick my ass on a daily basis? It's not going to happen. I'm going to try to keep fighting. I'm going to try to keep working. That's what I could on a daily basis. I wake up and work my butt off on a daily basis. I'm going to continue to do that.

I'm going to try to take this like a man as much as I can. He outplayed me. He played a lot better than I did tonight. He deserves all the praise that he gets, not only for how he plays, but how he handles himself. Get up tomorrow, look forward.

exactly. He's still as good as before. It's just that there was no good players like djoker nadal or murray a couple of years ago. We call this a weak era (the hewitt, roddick, safin, moya, fed era)
Well said. Fed is practically the same player. He finally has some competition now and can't handle it. Sampras is still the GOAT until proven otherwise.

LOL VT, you're a man well informed! :)

Yes, you make good points so I must admit it can argued both ways. Anyways, I should have added a IMO to my original post! :)

Yes he is the same player but his game isn't I think vtmike got it perfect when he said

It is a combination of improvement in younger players and a drop in Fed's game & confidence

i decided to open this thread as im getting tired of those people still taking credit of Nadal, Djokovic and Murray, by saying that federer is in a slump.... Fair enough, Federer is not playing that great, but you gotta bear this in mind:

Besides his loss against wawrinka and some other , he still beats everybody not named Nadal, djoker or Murray as easily as he did before. he still beats karlovic, Roddick, hewitt, Gonzalez and basically the same field he beat before. The thing is, 3 new players have shown up , dont choke against him and have the game and the mental toughness to beat him.

I mean, it is not like he is in a slump and his ranking droped to 100, he is still number 2. I´m not taking credit of Federer now nor saying that his rivals were crap before, but you Federer fans have to admit that tha fact that Federer is not winning anymore is mainly due to the new guys, not because he forgot to play tennis

Great post!! And I agree. If you look at the results, outside of Wawinka, who has Fed lost to this year? Hes 0-5 against the top 3 in the world. 20-1 against the rest of the freakin field. So obviously Fed's slump is only directed towards the 3 best in the world currently. The rest of the field, Fed has no trouble demolishing
