Tsonga resurgence?

Tsonga has been hitting the ball very very well since the Aus Open. Despite having a slight fade against Zverev, Tsonga is playing inspired tennis. Hoping he keeps it up.

If Rog doesn't win RG (which probably isn't happening until I see how he's playing this clay season), I'd love for Jo to finally get one.

His hair looks much better than before... baby steps.

Allez Jo!
Last fall, he went from a pinpoint serve to a platform stance.
Two commentators (Gimel and Martina Navratilova) decried the change.
His serve is not necessarily bigger, but it looks more reliable. Probably added some confidence on his return games. Could also be feeling the clock ticking, so he is getting it in gear, in terms of motivation and commitment.

Re-surgence? When was the first surge? Guy's spent his life between the 4th round and the semis of big tournaments. One tournament into this year? One quarterfinal.

Same guy, same also-ran game. He ain't taking it to a new level in his 30's. A fine player, and a fine pro, but never has been and never will be a slam contender.

Yup, perfectly said. Tsonga has a great game to watch when he's on fire, but that happens once every 5 years. His career highlight undoubtedly will be beating Roger at Wimbledon and being a finalist at the YEC one year, where he lost to Fed.

Tsonga is just coasting by collecting checks like Berdych is doing. Getting a few wins every tournament and moving on. I like his game but he has to step it way up to contend at masters and slams.
He never will if he hasn't already.

We can't pretend he is like Wawrinka either, Tsonga has been a top guy for nearly 10 years now.

For me the return to form has been wonderful. Tsonga is capable of a very high level in not just ATP500 but also M1000 events, which is nearly the highest honour you can bestow on a player.

We should enjoy it as a return to Tsonga's maximum level of maybe winning another M1000 and being one of the most electrifying players on tour.

Don't forget his AO08 final which put him on the map

We should add in his 2014 Toronto win where he became the only player, other than Nadal, to beat Djokovic, Murray and Federer in the same draw.
