Uncapped I prestige

I saw an I prestige for sale in my local area, and it doesn't have CAP grommets. I'm not sure which of the I Prestiges it is, not did I know that Prestiges came uncapped. Can someone help explain this to me? And which model it might be?

MISSING the CAP system or has string strips with no CAP??? Could be a pro's racket if it's the latter. Saw plenty of those back in the day.
Also possible someone just got creative. I did that to one of my TXM(aster)s in the late '80s, using a string strip from another "Master" series racket. I reckon the same could be done with an i Prestige.

Looks like the CAP was removed and the MG Radical MP grommet set was put in. To reduce both the weight and SW I suppose.

@joah310 - you made me check :)
here are two i.prestige XL MP, one with rubbery paint, the other with gloss paint. Maybe the rubbery paint one used to have some 'XL' mark somewhere - but I can't see it anywhere anymore....

That's interesting. Thanks for the pics! Rubbery finish sure does fall apart.

I have 5 regular MP, and 3 are without Cap. They play incredibly with caps but are too demanding, without cap they are still fantastic and way more sustainable for a competitive match.
I’m heading towards more open patterns lately due to mainly playing on clay, but they are awesome weapons on HC.

Btw, one frame that I bought used came already without caps. Rubbery paint.
The seller was an old guy who I’m pretty sure doesn’t know about changing grommets.
So is it possible than some early production MP were also without caps ?
This particular frame was the best of all, sadly I crushed it in the middle of a tournament last year (I had 6 MP at some point hehe)
