They are like any other wrist band except for the fact that they are way overpriced like all of UA's gear.

I completely disagree. I think they are the best wristbands available. They are made of 100% polyester rather than a blend like the other brands, and as a result they last longer and dry faster than any other sweatband on the market.

A Nike or Adidas wristband will take 2 to 5 hours to dry straight out of the washing machine. Underarmour bands come out of the washer dry. They're pretty impressive.

Just to add, I don't wear Underarmour clothing or shoes because I haven't found any advantage to those products. Their wristbands, however, are another story.

Do you have actual experience with them?

I personally would invest $9 in a bandana.

I've been a long time user of wristbands, but made a switch to bandanas a while ago. Wristbands have a capacity to hold a certain amount of sweat. Once that is filled, you're basically smearing old sweat over your face again, which is disgusting. I also have sensitive skin, which makes sweatband-to-face friction irritating.

Bandanas absorb sweat right away and you never have to worry about wiping your face ever again. Plus they're light, so you don't even feel them on your head.

Too bad some people look like a complete idiot with a bandana on their head.
I'm one of them, so i'm stuck with the wristbands :(

Or just bring more than 1 wristband, and when it's "full" change it.

As I said, I have sensitive skin and the wristbands are pretty tough on my face after an hour of playing. Plus it just becomes an irritating habit to constantly wipe my face.

Bandanas are just more convenient. And it doesn't matter what you wear when you win :)

If you go the headband route you must go black and white checkerboard of course. I doubt the UA wristbands are much better than any other of the reputable brands. I personally find UA is one of the brands I would never wear just because I don't care for the apparel styles they choose.

I have to disagree. I have Nike, Adidas and Under Armour wrist bands and I see NO difference at all except the price. I also have a bunch of Under Armour, Nike and Adidas shirts and shorts. Again no difference except for the fact that Under Armour costs more. I like Under Armour but it's a bunch of hype. Their clothing line is no better than Nike or Adidas. Just to add, I have 3 pairs of Under Armour sneakers. 1 pair of hi tops and 2 pairs of the low top protos. Yes pal, I am experienced.

Ok, so we disagree. They're just wristbands.

It's all about that U of A logo.

Kidding.

I'm a heavy wristband user, sometimes a new one every set in the summer. I swear by mostly cotton. I like the Gamma Elite Double wristbands, but they do not fit people with thinner wrists.

I also like the ones from Volkl and Babolat. Problem is, I have to wear the logo on the bottom of my wrist so it does not scratch my cheekbone area.

The babolats shrink in the dryer, but they come in cool colors like royal and black. The Gammas get loose after repeated washing and lots of wear. But they are cheap.

FILAs are decent, too.

I originally wanted to reply to this last night, but since I did not have an account I had to wait until today for validation.

I tossed my UA wristbands in the wash probably a couple hours before Klatu posted this and Klatu is correct they come out of the washer dry. Well there was a little moisture, but it was more or less dry compared to my other cotton wristbands.

I bought the UA wristbands because I've been using their products since HS football back in 2000. Because of that I don't think I'll buy anyone else's moisture wicking products.

i've been using nike ones that are reversible, and found them to be pretty good. washer and dryer after every use.

i really hated them because they feel so synthetic to me. regular cotton wristbands feel much more comfortable to me, but the UA ones felt like plastic. guh. i threw mine away and just use regular cotton nike or adidas ones now.
p.s. i live in arizona so everything dries really fast. maybe the benefit of UA stuff is more apparent in more humid climates.

They aren't overpriced, nor are they just like every other brand. They feel great and supportive, and they last a good while before the elastic dies out. I would highly recommend them.

how does wicking help in a wristband? I understand the concept of wicking for shirts, shorts, socks, etc.. but don't you want the opposite effect - absorbption - in a wristband?

Yes^, the ieal wristband absorbs well, then when it's nearing saturation, you take it off and put on a new one. Mostly cotton with some elastic.

Now, if the scientists behind the fabrics want to do something revolutionary, they'll make one that doesn't give you extreme tanlines.

Actually, I find that the wicking material in the wristbands can effectively absorb sweat every bit as good as cotton. The difference is that evaporates quicker, leaving the wristband fresh so you don't have to change it every hour or so. In other words, it absorbs sweat without saturating nearly as quickly.
