Uniqlo French Open 2020?

Anyone has surprised at me that Uniqlo didn't release the outfits for Roger and Kei?

I'm certain they were produced so why not get into out to the public and get some revenue? Nike, Adidas and Lacoste all released their lines.

What do you guys and girls think?

I don’t like Uniqlo. Fed hasn’t won a slam since, and plus they rarely have their stuff in stock. I’m not surprised they haven’t put it out yet. I almost think their stuff doesn’t exist with how fast it sells out.

Well said. I read some people on here saying the quality is great, I am scratching my head. FED and Nike was the dream team. Real shame, now he has Uniqlo copying nike material in shorts, socks etc. There is a picture of FED practicing in summer of 2018 after Wimbledon, was wearing NIKE socks under the Uniqlo!

Once you try it, you cannot get enough of it -- outfits, socks, hats...so simple, not expensive, super durable and high quality
Have not put anything else on me (jeans, slacks, shorts, swim trunks, dress shirts, dress socks, suits, t-shirts, sweat shirts, Airism under shirts...) since 2013

Mmm, no. I also buy clothes based on aesthetics, and I want them to look nice. Uniqlo’s simplicity is a little too simple for me. It’s an acquired taste, which is something I haven’t acquired yet. But I understand that they have good build quality, their socks from what it looks like are pretty soft.

quality and durability.
Need to experiment with fit...
But, yes, simplicity is what attracted me to them. that is why Speed 360/360+ or latest Radical/Prestige PJs are my favorite

I’ve got the Black kit from last years US Open and bought a white v-neck and shorts in the Djoker line ($30 for the whole kit, couldn’t pass it up)

The quality of both are excellent. I was more than a bit skeptical, but worth the first kit I bought (Djoker) I figured the price was worth the experiment.

I wish they’d produce more, but that market model has always been low supply and high demand on the global scale.

This is why I would never get super in love with Uniqlo. The model of low supply is such BS is so trashy it’s not funny. It promotes price gouging by resellers, for something as simple as a shirt with like, a simple black with purple. Uniqlo for me is a no go.

Its a free market and the items are worth what you’d pay for them. I for one, wouldn’t buy from a reseller, nor was I ever willing to pay the prices Nike was asking for the Fed & Nadal lines. $100 each for shorts and shirts was too steep.

The FO might still happen, so why wouldn't they wait for it?

If it doesn't then they have a kit in the bag for next year.

No one is playing tennis much, so not much tennis clothing is being bought.

While not claiming to "speak for the world," any fed fan (present company excluded) who may've 'launched' an on-over-the-wall barrier shot and then in the next breath
bellyached about Nadal being a "moon-balling baseliner" (a la andrea jaeger) is a (your 'fanboy take here_______) dork.

Yeah I really don’t understand Uniqlo marketing here. Why both designs and quantities are so limited just baffles me. It’s not like they don’t have the dough

The Uniqlo strategy is not to sell Fed tennis outfits per se, as evidenced by their pathetically low stock and limited availability.
But rather to drive sales into their other departments.
Whatever... Uniqlo is just a weird company.

not weird, just Japanese...as a father of a boy who was crazed over the Power Rangers And Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles back in the 1990s...this intentional low supply, high demand style is very familiar. They don’t want to flood the market, so they keep demand high and sell out their first wave and most of not all of their second wave of supply continually.

Those products actually sold in huge numbers.
Will need to see evidence that Uniqlo is actually selling huge numbers of these outfits.
I looked into getting one a few years ago and absolutely nothing was available on their site.
Looks like it is being marketed mainly to drive customers to their store and purchase other clothing lines. Not to sell those outfits per se.

its quite smart actually, same as the high-end streetwear stores who employ "drops" that sell out quickly and never restock. I just wish that they released the PE kits and jackets and headbands and everything!!!! However, if you do see someone wearing Uniqlo, that does add to their street cred on court immediately.

I've had a plentiful supply of Fed outfits to buy, but one t-shirt sufficed.

You have to be quick though.

It's called fast fashion for a reason even if they have a lot of classic looks otherwise.

I am interested in any Federer outfit. But their site currently has only two shirts and two pants. None available in a normal size.

This is the AO 2020 Federer outfit.
If I am interested in this, I need to buy it in January? Or else only fatty sizes remain?

As soon as this kind of product goes on sale, you are unlikely to find your size.

You need to sign up to Uniqlo's website to get releases as they happen or you'll miss out.

The FO in September is looking more possible not because the pandemic will be over, but because our overlords want the economy up and running at some level.

I thought I was being realistic. It would be unrealistic to assume medical reasons would alone determine the issue. Football has begun already in Germany.

French open will not be taking place this year please be realistic with yourself

Getting the economy running is a large-scale issue and this one event does not factor into the decision.
Had it been insured, the French Open would have been cancelled just as Wimbledon was. And the leaders would have been just fine with that.

I didn't say the FO would cause a shift. My point was that it would benefit from the shift to opening the economy, which is clearly already underway.

You need to learn to read more carefully.

or because it was produced and they need to recover the money.
nobody likes to sit on blocked capital, especially if you'll have to heavily discount it soon, and watch how your capital melts down
The stuff is already discounted on TW, I don’t think anybody is buying though.

I love Uniqlo clothes. Its a line that fits me really well and I was ecstatic when they brought on Federer. However, that being said, they have not done Federer any justice. They have a superstar tennis player and yet don't promote him well at all. Its a shame.

I imagine there is so much juggling and rescheduling happening for Uniqlo's lines that tennis would be low down on the list of considerations.

The Olympics would surely have been an absolute disaster for them. There is a massive task involved which is probably drawing people from other activewear areas in the company's design / marketing / retail supply working teams.

Not familiar with "Fast Fashion".
"Fast" apparently refers to quickly discarding it. Not that you have to be quick to purchase it on Day One.

Definition of fast fashion
an approach to the design, creation, and marketing of clothing fashions that emphasizes making fashion trends quickly and cheaply available to consumers
The result is a new and even faster kind of fast fashion, which encourages consumers to buy heaps of items, discard them after a few wears and then come back for another batch of new outfits.

I was considering the plain minimalist white Federer 2020 Australian Shirt for $29.
It looks essentially the same as the white Federer 2018 Wimbledon shirt below on Eee-bay for $179.
What type of dunderhead is going to pay $179 for this plain thing?

Exactly, and I'm certain Uniqlo's French Open range has been produced.

It actually means that the clothes are quick to market with fashionable designs at affordable prices.

I suppose that encourages over-consumption. And there are manufaturers who make cheap and shoddy.

Uniqlo is not one of those. It is modelled after GAP.

I would consider a simple plain outfit like this. $29 shirt + $29 pants... But I would wear it for years! Not "discard after a few wears".
Affordable? Yes. Fashionable? Not really. It is very plain and minimalist. Functional. Quite boring.
Furthermore, Uniqlo often "rushes" to market essentially the same plain white design, as in 2018 Wimbledon and 2020 AO outfit.
This Uniqlo outfit is considered "fast fashion"?

You can wear their stuff for years. It's all very well-made with great attention to detail.

They dress Federer in more classic styles, understandably, but they also offer more cutting-edge fashion.

You should just look at their website as evidence is always better than idle speculation.

Even with this outfit here that you call boring, it has a stand collar which is fashionable as well as colour deployed in gradients.

Subtle, yes, but also a seasonal trend at the time.

What is your taste in clothes? You don't strike me as adventurous in your dress.

Uniqlo is fast fashion, but not when it comes to tennis items (and some collabs). They are known for their high quality though, especially in their price point. Tennis specific clothes are limited and inexpensive as well and the brand is very collector friendly. They even made a rerelease of all 2011-2015 ND and NK polo shirts back in 2015. Has any other company ever done that?

The best part of this listing is that it's not even 2018 Wimbledon polo. It's the white version of the USO one (different logo color and piping).

Are we for certain not getting it? I suppose it would have already been announced/released by now. It’s a shame. We’re there any leaks of what the designs possibly were?

All the waiting for the "exciting new release" and the 2018 W design is barely indistinguishable from the USO?
It just serves to prove that the Uniqlo Federer designs tend to be very similar and plain... The Uniqlo child-like logo is also awkward looking.
Logo just does not go well with the tennis outfit.

It has most certainly been produced. And it should be released now. Even if the French is played in September. Or not played at all.
More weirdness from the Uniqlo Marketing department.
