Nothing is comparable to blowing 2 CP on your own serve when you are one of the best servers in history.
He was only serving to the greatest returner of all time

How do you blow an AO final up a break in the 5th to a 35 year old average returner coming back from knee surgery in his 1st tournament in 6 months?

All the big 3 have at occasions been phenomenal choke artists..

Many want to emphasize the C.P. as if nothing could eeeeeever compare to that. It's just easy to poke at because it's so unusual. Many big matches have been choked away or just simply lost after being ahead and a player appeared to be on the way to victory.

Mcenroe at 1984 RG is always the no 1 for me .. Followed closely by Coria at RG 2004 and Federer

The so called "greatest returner of all time" didn't even have a break point until late in the fourth set. There are no excuses for losing like that, and I'm not trying to troll here at all. Nadal also had a few very bad losses to which I can't find any excuses.

Federer has been playing for 21 years and going on 1500 matches at the top echelon of tennis in almost every situation imaginable. If it was going to happen to anyone, he would be the most likely just because of that.

First of all, who is a better returner? Agassi? No. Maybe on 2nd serves.

No excuses for losing because no one has ever lost serve up 40-15 in the history of tennis? I'm not making an excuse btw. Too much has been made of it like no one else has ever blown a title.

Before the draw comes out, give a projected draw that you think would be fair and balanced.

My projected draw for R3 :

1. Djokovic VS 27. Kyrgios
19. Schwartzman VS 16. Basilashvili

10. Fognini VS 21. Cilic
32. Gasquet VS 8. Tsitsipas

6. Zverev VS 31. Verdasco
24. Pouille VS 9 Khachanov

14. Isner VS 17. Auger-Aliassime
26. Lajovic VS 3. Federer

4. Thiem VS 28. Paire
20. Raonic VS 15. Goffin

10. Bautista Agut VS 23. Berrettini
29. Edmund VS 7. Nishikori

5. Medvedev VS 30. Garin
18. Pella VS 12. Coric

13. Monfils VS 22. Wawrinka
25. Fritz VS 2. Nadal

Note : Seeds without Del Potro and Anderson (injured)
So to make this easier on my eyes:

Djokovic - Difficulty : 8/10
R1: Who knows
R2: Who knows
R3: Kyrgios
R4: Schwartzman
QF: Tsitsipas
SF: Federer
F: Nadal

Federer - Difficulty: 5/10. Not a total cakewalk, but I don't see a challenge until the SF.
R1: Who knows
R2: Who knows
R3: Lajovic
R4: FAA/Isner
QF: Khachanov
SF: Djokovic
F: Nadal

Nadal - Difficulty: 8/10. Was going to make it lower until I considered after R3, it doesn't really let up.
R1: Who knows
R2: Who knows
R3: Fritz
R4: Wawrinka
QF: Medvedev
SF: Thiem/Nishikori
F: Djokovic

Adjust Federer's to
R1: Who knows
R2: Who knows
R3: Edmund
R4: FAA/Berrettini
QF: Khachanov/Raonic/Isner
SF: Djokovic
F: Nadal

Too much has been made of it like no one else has ever blown a title.

That's partly the fault of us fans - we always prefer to make Fed the hero so we'll talk about those last five games in AO 17 like they were tennis perfection rather than talking about a Nadal choke.

Nadal fans are similar - if the W19 scenario had happened in a Fedal they would have been slightly more on the "indomitable Bull" narrative than the choke, although no doubt would have enjoyed that too.

A section of the Djoko fanbase is now so far gone that they'd sooner make it all about Fed even if that takes away credit from their own guy.

no one else has ever won 20 slams
It's kind of like Brett Favre (not sure if you're familiar) but he played forever and when he retired he had most of the major passing records and also the most interceptions to boot. The more attempts at something the more likely crazy things will happen.

Well said.

Especially the last paragraph.
