Us Open change of surface

A lot of people say that Nadal can't win Us Open because it's faster now with the new surface. I think Nadal likes faster surfaces these days. All he wants is high bouncing courts (USO still has a high bouncing court unlike AO).
Also, let's look at the people who played well last year at Uso. Carreno Busta making the sf and almost beating Zverev, Thiem winning the title.
I think Nadal has a very good chance with everyone tired from the Wimby+Olympics combo. Thoughts?

Nadal was a top contender at Wimbledon also, and if he was a contender on the much lower bouncing slicker courts of SW19, he is a contender anywhere. He is at worst top five across all four slams.

It's more about his mental state for me, historically he hasn't done well post RG when hasn't walked away with the title. And other players have now closed the gap on him on HC as he continues to decline physically.

Nadal historically didn't play at a higher level at the USO than at the AO. it's just in the last couple years Novak didn't retire to Stan due to injury or throated Karen at the AO. if he wins Wimbledon he'll be so motivated to win the USO it's hard to imagine he'd let anything stop him

Nadal doesn't like slow surfaces, otherwise he'd have dominated miami.
The warrior prefers lively courts.

For Nadal, the decisive factor is the height of rebound of the ball, not the speed of the surface. The lower the bounces of the balls, the more vulnerable Nadal is.

Deco Turf had high ball bounces in the 2010s decade compared to other HC courts, which is why Nadal was so successful at the USO. Laykold with lower ball rebounds will be a grand complication for Rafa to achieve another USO triumph.

On grass, who really has the prowess to be ahead of him and have proven success on the surface? Fedovic.....who else? Murray is too hurt, I don't put Cilic above him, who else? The next gen have to show us something on grass first, all fell like ducks in a row these past few days on grass.

AO, you can put Djokovic, Medvedev, Thiem, Tsitsipas above him....can you put Zverev there? Maybe, but he is 0-10 against top ten players in slams. So who else? Federer?

Not everyone will be tired, though. There will be some players who take a break after Wimbledon and don't play Olympics.

Way USO courts played last year will suit Nadal perfectly. Thiem loved them and he is a sort of Nadal Lite.

You are right except last year the bounce was high which explains Thiem beating Medvedev in SF. Had it been low bouncing medvedev would win

not just now but it was always a wrong notion that nadal prefers slow surfaces.........it is actually djokovic and fed that enjoy playing against rafa on slow courts.........rafa was always vulnerable on slow surfaces even in his prime when he was owning federer and djokovic at grandslam stages.........hamburg was slow when fed beat him, london wtf and other slow indoors basically meant nadal was at a disadvantage before the first ball against fedovic.........

it is actually the faster surfaces with healthy bounce that rafa always enjoyed playing anyone.........roland garros is quite fast, fed himself said that.........even us open and aus open when it was plexi are on the faster side........fed is still scared of facing him at the us open on decoturf-2.........rafa had issues at wimbledon against both fedovic due to the slow nature of grass with less bounce........he exceled at queen's which is again a fast grass tournament.........

This is not an accurate statement. Federer and Djokovic love playing Nadal on faster lower bouncing surfaces. It's always about the bounce for Nadal, can he get it high enough.

like many others you may not have watched enough of rafa to acknowledge what i said, and i don't really blame you........dubai 2006, aus open 2009 were all quite fast with low bounce.........it's only since 2014 after he lost his great footspeed that bounce became more of a factor for him as he could no longer track down balls as fiercely as he could........on slow surfaces he was always at a disadvantage regardless of bounce against fedovic.........

Riiiight.

What about WTF 2006, 2007? What about the beatings Djokovic gave Nadal in Cincinnati?

Nadal fans keep making posts about the us open. The insecurity from Rafa fans is through the roof at present.

From what I seen Rafa will struggle at the us open this year. His movement is slower, his stamina is worse, serve worse, return not great and BH error prone.

The next generation like Tsitsipas, medevdev and Zverev don’t fear him on hard courts. It’s not just Djokovic to worry about like in past.

Rafa’s confidence has taken a hit no doubt. I’d say if he can’t win on his favourite clay court then it’s foolish to say he gonna go win the us open. His mental state clearly isn’t great that he’s withdrawing from Wimbledon.

These last few years Rafa has put his chips on winning the french open. It’s got even more apparent this year as he ages more. To expect him to find that hard court level again so quickly is a big ask.

Rafa is a great champion and won 4 us opens but looking at his current state I wouldn’t be hyping him up at all

Even as a Djokovic fan I’m still not looking past round 1 Wimbledon despite djoko being the favourite
