Variance in Flex

hi tw,
since you have a lot of experience with measuring the ra of racquets, I would like to know how big the variance in regard to the ra of a racquet typically is.
for example: if you put 100 racquets of the same kind on the rdc and you get an average of 63 ra, how big is typically the range of the ra values, 61-65 or 60-66 or even worse ?

Hansen,

There isn't really a concrete answer that I can give. There are a lot of variables involved. It can depend on the brand, what round of production from the factory and even on specific racquets themselves (and more!). I can say that the RA is generally a tighter range than both weight and swingweight. I can tell you that factory tolerances for almost every brand aim to be +/- 3 if that helps.

Thanks,
Brittany, TW

Brittany is right, the tolerance is +/-3.5 RA
Rackets are hand made and there will be variances among them.
I would be surprised though if you find one at 60 and other at 67 from the same batch...

is this same tolerance for Head, Wilson, Babolat?
or this is for Head and Wilson and Babolat can have different tolerance?

Just nitpicking here. 3σ CI would be ~3.5 RA units. 67% of the time, or 1σ, RA would be ±1.2 from spec, which is not 'feelable' to ordinary mortals. The hand assemblers would have to be having very bad days if they had higher variances. Or the QC of the material they are using batch-to-batch is also very bad.
