Vollaix Agassi Shirt

KANZA, are the Hamptons and Manhattan shirts based on anything?

One of the biggest mistakes I ever made!

Moncler had a great shirt back in spring 2016:
49051156998_12b639eb85_w_d.jpg

I liked it, but (to me) the stripes were on the wrong side. After all, I need to put the logo on the left chest.
I also wanted a red and navy stripe. I made a sample in summer 2016:

49051177813_51c6106eea_w_d.jpg

I never took it to production. I kept putting it off in favor of other projects (particularly the women’s line).
Finally in spring 2018 Nike takes the Moncler design and uses it for Federer’s last Nike polo:

49051684311_365320f770_w_d.jpg

It would have been cool to have the design in our line before Nike.
Despite the fact that the Federer shirt was already introduced, I didn’t like the colors.
So I redid it with a better color scheme.

I wore it to work one day and my assistant told me I looked like I was fresh off the 1992 satellite circuit.

Personally I think your shirt looks better than the Moncler or the Nike.

@KANZA TennisNerd posted a YouTube video recently playtesting the Volkl C10 Pro. In it he is wearing one of your shirts I've never seen before....yellow/black with a repeating V design (best way I can descript it). What is that? Is it a custom shirt....or a 2020?

@Capt. Willie That’s the bruised banana 1991 uniform of the Arsenal soccer team. I redid it with a very similar pattern to make it work for a tennis shirt. I like tennisnerd and sent him one. He lives in Malta of all places!

Jonas (his first name) wears some of my stuff in his videos. You can find him wearing the Kauai Hawaiian shirt as well in another video.

That yellow shirt is part of the 2020 spring collection coming out in mid January. The shirt is called the Dante, named for a junior player in Connecticut. His mom wrote me after Vollaix sponsored the Stowe Classic last summer (where Dante was a ball kid at the tournament). Also an accomplished Juniors player, Dante won a few tournaments wearing his Vollaix ball kid shirt we gave him at the tournament. It became it lucky shirt. His mom wrote me the story, took a good number of promo pics for us to use, and we kept sending him stuff. He kept winning tournaments. So, we decided to name a shirt after him. I’ve never met the kid, but I do get a nice thank you note in the mail from mom and son everytime we send him something.

The yellow colorway is “bruised banana”. We will also have a pink and black version.

for those following this thread...the Agassi shirts return in January as well.

Still loving everything about these tennis clothes and durability seems pretty good. Also have a couple of pair of the socks and even the darned socks are fantastic! Looking forward to this January release and maybe grab a couple of more items

Someone bought 15 pairs of wristbands, almost clearing me out of my remaining stock. Seriously, that’s 30 bands I packed into one box.
So yes, I am designing some new wristbands.

As for socks, I’ve got plain black and plain white. Stripes on the socks? Maybe, if there’s a design I like enough to pull the trigger

I’ve got the edberg bug. Someone really got to me two weeks ago on Instagram. Not the 87 or 88 though. That one is tough because of the giant SE. it’s not an easy sell, except to Edberg fans. Besides, my favorite design year is 1990. So I took on the challenge of the Wimbledon winner and it’s accompanying colorway. samples in process, and I’m a bit nervous about how well it’s going to come out.

Did he actually wear the bottom dark one? I only remember and can find pics of the top lt. blue shirt. I actually like the dark one better.

What about going a Lendl argyle shirt....or is that too tied into Adidas?

Why would someone want/need 15 pairs of wristbands, especially when they are all the same. o_O

he wore the black top earlier that year at the 1990 Australian Open and some spring indoor events. Edberg lost to Lendl in the final of AO after retiring in the 4th set.

I like the dark one better, too. It goes well with faded black jeans

I'm not sure you can purchase/wear acid washed jeans unless you have a mullet. I seem to remember that there was even a point of sale restriction, and I got asked to buy them for someone; didn't ever wear them myself, I may have/have had a mullet, but it is/was tasteful - I've got standards goddammit!

I hope there are many Stefan's fans. Also you could make your own logo instead - VT - Vollaix Tennis for example.

They did not reissue any Edberg or Lendl apparel, didn't they?

Not the original designs. They do sell a couple of items with the "Edberg' colours though. The reissue of the original Edbergs, a modern tennis shoe (Adidas Übersonic 3) , a T-shirt with the Adidas logo and a black polo all featuring the said colours.

.....So would there be the possibility of bringing to life other historical polos like Agassi Us Open 1994 and 1995 and Rafter period 1998 - 1999 with current fabrics? :)
Agassi Us Open 1995 had major washing problems; unfortunately it discolored!!
Great visual impact!

Potentially. We’ve already done so many others already over the last 5 years: Becker, mac, Edberg, Krickstein, Connors, Ashe, Chang, Kuerten, Billie Jean king, Borg, Sampras, Yannick Noah, and Wilander (not out yet- holding it as a June release). People write me and ask for me to make a certain shirt. sometimes I think it’s a good idea, so I do it. Other times i like the design, but I don’t think it’s enough to break even. The audience for it is too small. Rarely (and this is my favorite instance) someone asks me to make a custom shirt for them. I do it, but it’s expensive. We make it, I order an extra one for myself, and the final product wins me over. Then I add it to the next upcoming Spring or Fall line.

phase 3...samples.
need to review the details. Color, placement of the graphics, sizing, etc.
One mistake was the ribbed cuffed sleeves. I asked that it be an open cuff, hemmed sleeve.
however, sometimes mistakes don’t need to be corrected. In this case, after trying them on I think I prefer the ribbed cuffs. Edberg was a gentleman, and the cuff upgrades the style a touch. It makes it a bit more refined, much like the man himself. I could easily have it changed for production, but likely not. Happy accident.

@KANZA What is the story/inspiration behind the "Phoenix" shirt? Never seen anything like that before....really cool and different.
I wanted something with a Southwest feel. I shop everywhere looking for ideas. I always liked the Polo Ralph Lauren SW sweaters and shirts. They’ve been doing it for years. I saw a SW inspired cotton tee last spring at Rue21 (yes, I look everywhere for ideas). Just thought, “if we can do a Hawaiian shirt, surely we can do a Southwestern/Mayan art inspired piece.”

hoping to get matching socks with the design made this spring, but we’ll see

Hello, I wanted to know if there was any possibility to propose Agassi shirt Us Open 1995 and Washington 1995.
Combined with the black shorts they 'll have a certain effect and I think they will be appreciated by many fans.
Thanks, regards

CoolMax was a DuPont material. Any brand could use it. I remember asics had it as a lining material on one of their running shoes.

For 2021, I will likely look at 1995. I’ve had 2 other requests for the Washington 95 final (he lost to Edberg right?). That’s an abstract black plaid, very grunge and quintessentially 90s. We all had a flannel shirt like that back in the mid 90s. Could have a broad appeal.

the brown stripe shirt? Not my fav, and it has to have a broad enough appeal to sell as a sport shirt and a fashion shirt.

there is one other 1995 shirt I want: the AO in red. The pirate shirt. Checkerboard collar and broken stripes. I need to see how difficult it would be to have that check pattern made.

2020 is complete. spring and fall lines are done, so it won’t be this year. I’ll experiment with samples this spring and summer and production in the fall for 2021. I will likely mix it up half retro/ half new designs like 2020. If I do any 95s I’ll keep the TW board updated.

Honestly, the most bada$$ shirt in tennis history is Pete's Sergio Tacchini when he won his first GS title! Out of nowhere, there is this guy who plays like a boss and it's dressed in Persian warrior look. Bada$$! And I have always been an Andre fan.
