"warming up" eyes before matches

I often struggle with tracking the balls at beginning of the match. sometimes it takes a few games to get my eyes to start keeping up with incoming balls. I know exactly the mishits were because my eyes were moving too slowly. When the weather is good, I like to hit a few balls on driveway with wooden spoon (tennis pointer) before I leave home, which seems to help. But now it's dark so early and it snow/rains all the time. The normal warm up time on court is not enough for my eyes to wake up.

Any advice/ideas that I can borrow? some jedi training methods or even video games, table tennis? I'm willing to try anything, as long as it's tested and worked for somebody...

Good ole Bounce Hit steps to track the ball if your eyes are wandering ? An addition to the below drill that I was told was to read the ball manufacturer name as you are saying hit and trying to hit. You won’t be able to but it increases your focus before the hit.

Eye Palming and lubricating eye drops. Avoid the eye drops with redness relievers. Redness relievers are primarily cosmetic and might even be more detrimental to your eyes than helpful.

I will explain eye palming later

This guy's channel is focused on stuff like this. I believe this video has a link to his eye training video. I think its exactly what you are looking for.

I have had more an more issues with my eyes since hitting 50 a few years ago. Luckily I am getting used to the issues and learning to both focus better and compensate. I still overrun balls with judging distance, and as you mentioned tracking is tough at times but I try to prep earlier.

As far as warming up eyes, I tend to close and open my eyes wide often and work on volleying against a wall to get them used to faster action. If I am playing under bad lights or at night I tend to close my eyes for a bit as the sunsets to try and get them used to less light, but that doesn't do much.
