were nalbandian and davydenko the tsonga and berdych type of guys?

imo they were a bit because they were not a facotr in slams either, they were ocassionally reaching the latter stages and sometimes giving the top guys a run for their money. nalbandian in 2004 AO and 2006 FO(untill he retired) and davydenko at 2006 AO, 2007 FO and 2010 AO. also they have some good accomplishments themselves. tsonga and berdych have a slam final each(but they have not been able to reproduce), nalby has a slam final as well. but nalby and davy have done things which make them a little better in a way. both have won masters series by beating the best players in federer nadal and djokovic, something tsonga and berdych cannot claim. and davy also has the WTF unlike berdych and tsonga. discuss

Fat Dave not only accomplished more but was/is on a completely different level in terms of talent, very crafty all courter. At his best was on par with Federer, his head and possibly fitness were just not there.

Nice list. Using this, I would probably have to agree with NatF. Davydenko and Nalbandian are better than Tsonga and Berdych.

Davydenko also has a large h2h advantage with Berdych to go along with his better career, not to mention his higher career rankings. Not even lose IMO. Nalbandian is a bit closer maybe but even he's had a much better career than either of them and the h2h is either even or in his favour.

Berdych's record is specially weak. His sole master 1000 was won in 2005, he has reached the SF or better in slam only 3 times, won only 8 tournaments...He is good at reaching master 1000 SF though.

I think he was also the least hampered by injuries of the 4. Davydenko had only minor injuries for a long time, but his career was destroyed in spring 2010. Tsonga and Nalbandian's development have been slowed a lot by injuries.

Nalbandian beating prime Federer in all his big tournament victories puts him quite high in my opinion, even if at the WTF Federer was struggling with a foot injury.
