What is the Greatest US Open Rivalry??

My vote is Federer and Djokovic. They have met 5 years in a row from 2007-2011.

Of course a Nadal Djokovic final this year would be epic and would mean that those two have met in 3 US Open finals.

I enjoyed the Sampras-Agassi matches at the US Open. However with Sampras winning all 4 of their matches without even being taken to 5 sets, despite Agassi being the pre-match favourite to win all of them, that was a bit too lopsided to be the best rivalry IMO.

As least with Federer-Djokovic, things are more balanced with 3 wins for Federer and 2 for Djokovic, and only one of the most matches finishing in straight sets (and Djokovic had his chances in that 2007 final).

Likewise Lendl beat McEnroe 3 times at the US Open while Mac beat him twice, although 4 of their 5 matches were comprehensive striaght set victories one way or the other.

McEnroe-Connors is a possible vote between the two guys who ruled the tournament in the 70s and early 80s. Their titanic 5 set 1980 and especially their 1984 semi-finals were intriguing viewing, although Connors easily won their 1978 semi with Mac turning the tables in 1979.
