Giordano Bruno, isn't he the one they burned?Italy's greatest contributions? Easy, imo.
- Arts, music, architecture, cuisine, culture. They have many truly great and deeply touching films as well.
- Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Rafael, Giordano Bruno, Galileo, Vivaldi, Paganini, Puccini, etc.
- Pianoforte, violin and strings, Opera
- The Italy National Football Team - to compete with Brazil.
Giordano Bruno, isn't he the one they burned?
Galileo, isn't he the one they threatened to burn, but just put him under house arrest for the remainder of his life?
Maybe this should be a warning to anyone who wants to be a high achiever?

Who said anything about "high achievers"?
Richard Feynman said having discovered what he had discovered was rewarding and made him happy enough, not the Nobel prize.
That's also the mindset of all the true scientists.
As for Bruno and Galileo, they were dreamers, darers, truth seekers, inspirers, pioneers, among other things I doubt most of us can ever say about ourselves.
They dreamed about an even more beautiful, meaningful world than what they were told and must believe. They dared to challenge idea of "The Earth is the centre of the universe" - a finite universe that was in the minds of those high powers who told the others what to think.
“I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use.”
_ Galileo Galilei
They dared to read the forbidden books, to think for themselves, to seed new ideas, spread it, prove it, fall in love with what they found and determine to share them with everyone, whatever the price.
"It may be you fear more to deliver judgment upon me than I fear judgment."
_ Giordano Bruno upon hearing his conviction of execution
And find they did - not just the wonderful world and universe as how they truly are, but also, and absolutely importantly, the foundation for mathematical and provable sciences for countless generations of future scientists, as well as the ones who like to think for themselves and see the truths, not what they are told.
More than 400 years later and here I am, feeling something in my throat writing this, just at the mere thought about them...
“Passion is the genesis of genius.”
_ Galileo Galilei
And if words don't mean much to you, just listen this little piece of music written for Bruno and feel for yourself how touched and inspired the composer must have been to be able to create such beautiful, emotional and touching music - the universal language that can always says so much without a single word...
Don't misunderstand me. My point wasn't to put them down. I wanted to draw attention to how geniuses are often neglected, and worse, sometimes despised for their discoveries.Who said anything about "high achievers"?

One of my best friends from high school is short and he’s very self conscious about it.That is a very good height!
But short men shouldnt stress. Its more average to not be so tall.
Italian men tends to be short though unfortunately, for me!
I hope you signed us up for that football quiz next month.I would have kept thinking Maldini was part of the team before I looked at the lineups again. Can't believe he has been retired for so long. 2002! Years are just flying by.
A little relieved. I thought I was losing the plot. Maldini continued to play for Milan until 2009.
We all have our things! I felt I was too skinny and should have bigger boobs and bum like Kardashrian lol. never gonna happen. One of my best friends from high school is short and he’s very self conscious about it.
Glad I don’t have to go through that, I have my own insecurities though.
You must be at least 1.78m or 5'10'' à la Jenna Elfman? That is a very good height!

Yes! But he must be 5,5 or something, he is short. My dad is Italian, so I have been to Italy a lot. If I wear heels I feel SO TALL over there, I also feel stronger than them, they are built so thin compared to Scandinavian men(vikings). While here in Norway most men are taller than me even if I wear 10cm heels.
Best Italy has come up with?
SHOES! Makes us even taller
and Dolce Gabbana
The Romans did a lot!And Salvatore Ferragamo
Inumerable great contributions. They engineered the Aqueducts for irrigation, public baths and of course drinking. Also, put stone markers at roadside to indicate distance, hence the literal milestone [also to denote a specific degree of achievement].
The Romans did a lot!
I raise you with Gucci and Armani.
Then we always have- Medici family.
All the art thats from there too. Music. Vivaldi, Puccini, Verdi. The operas still sung today. Tosca, probably the greatest opera created.
How could we forget... the greatest dress makers that is: Valentino!!Haha, Prada over Gucci and Armani suits. I only mentioned Ferragamo because my girlfriend gave me a Ferragamo wallet. Anyway, Ermenegildo Zegna is my personal favourite.
You feel stronger than them? Lol poor Italians.Yes! But he must be 5,5 or something, he is short. My dad is Italian, so I have been to Italy a lot.
