What's Up With Juan Carlos??

Is there any news on JCF as to justify his consecutive losses on the dirt? Is he injured, tired, or is he just getting beaten? I am not a racquet conspiracy theorist, but i did hear that ferrero was actually testing out the nxg graphite mid-plus. I am sure if the world's supply of pog lb's is depleting that a player of JCF's status could have some company re-produce the mold of his frames. In any event this is an odd start to the clay court season for Juan Carlos.

Don't forget that a few weeks ago he was battling chickenpox (I believe that was the visus), so may be this is a side effect of being off the courts for some time, perhaps he is not in top condition

Or may be this is a "a la Hewitt" player that peacked and we are witness his decline. I've seen him last year at the Master in Houston and he seemed not to have the desire that his opponents had. This is something we will be in position to tell after the clay court season is over.

It is looking pretty scary now for my man Juanqui, he was absoluteley shambolick, he just didn't want the victory and was scared of going to 3 sets. I'll stick by him through thick and thin and have been his greatest fan since '99 and this is the worst I have seen him play.

I want the old JC back!!!

Well he is one of my favorite players, and I've said many times before that I believe he has the best 2 shot groundstroke combo in the world (backhand + forehand = the best). SO I really hope he gets back to normal. At his best, he is my third favorite or maybe almost my first combined with Moya since they play a very similair game, but Ferrero's is just a little more complete.

But yea, is there any info on his status or something?

Juan Carlose has done the Sampras and changed his game to suit a surface he's not as familiar on. Rememebr when Sampras changed coaches and tried to learn to play on the dirt? JCF has adapted his game to the hard courts, with really good results(US Open Finals), but his dirt game has obviously suffered because of it. You could tell when he played hard courts that he was going for more and not playing as patient a game. It's gonna hurt him on clay.

NYU, good point. He does seem to be quite impatient on the clay today. NOt really ready or willing to rally all day. Going for the dropper to early, going for too much off both wings (I think mainly forehand). He needs to calm down, and maybe playing on the clay a lot will do that for him.

He's still recovering from the chickenpox, which is worse in adults than children.

Shame he had to crash out of the first round in a tournament he owned two years in a row.

If JCF had the chicken pox then i can understand what's going on, I had the chicken pox a couple years ago and I was 22, when you are older and have the chicken pox it is really bad. It's like having a fever for 2 weeks, aches and pains all over, and plus you don't eat much so you lose a ton of weight.
