Wait, you were playing the woods just several years ago? And with Playboy racquet covers?

Yeah... After my (almost) three decade hiatus I thought I'd try using wood racquets to get started so that the game would be easier once I moved to composites. It worked out fine although I got a horrendous case of tennis elbow once I really started playing a lot, which disappeared completely once I made the switch to a 98" composite.

Birthday presents:
Donnay Borg Pro (never liked)
Dunlop Maxply Fort

Aged about 17 the Arthur Ashe Comp appeared but no way I could afford one although I got to play briefly with one when my strings went and a rich Iranian boy (pre revolution) lent me his.

Aluminium
After school I gave up tennis for a few years but came back swinging with
Prince Graphite 110

Graphite
Dunlop 200G (mistake, never liked it)
Then my memory gets a bit hazy but something like
Donnay Revolution (adjustable handle weights)
Prince Graphtec DB 90, long innings with this excellent frame
SP.IN (owner of local shop had some connection with this company and a few of us bought them as used by Joe Durie)

Then I got tennis elbow using one of the head heavy lightweight:
Wilson Hammer 3.2
In pain I swapped it for a Snauwaert (blue model?) of some sort to no avail

Someone must have recommended Pro kennex for elbow pain and I never looked back (until last week)

Pro Kennex 5G
Prince Speedport Black (hardly used but had a back op. and thought the racket better do the talking until I was fully recovered....or something),hardly used.
PK Ki5 315
PK Q5 315
PK Q Tour (ouch, wrist didn’t like that, 325/98”), only used once

Then this month feeling the need for something lighter but head light and after hours of inputting specs in raquetfinder I bought
PK Q5 plus 290 and a Prince which I have settled on:
Prince Textreme Tour 100P

This is not the end nor the beginning of the end but the end of the beginning.

That’s a strategy not many of us would dare to try, but it obviously has worked for you. I’ll occasionally take a woodie out of the bag, but i can’t imagine doing it for a year!

Pre-Junior years:
Various ProStaff hand-me-downs from my dad, can't recall the exact models, but they were always in the 4.whatever model ranges. One in particular that sticks out in my mind had a purple-ish/color change cosmetic with a thicker beam. No clue what the model was.

Junior years:
Hammer 6.2
Hammer 6.2 Stretch/OS
Hyper Hammer 6.2 (ditched at this model, handed down to my dad)
Hammer 7.2
Jumped to Pro-Staffs at about 16 or so:
Pro Staff 6.1 Stretch Oversized
Pro Staff 6.1 95 Midplus
Hyper Pro Staff 5.0.
Then I quit the sport at 21 before picking it back up 15 years later.

Couldn't find a Wilson I liked at all and ended up in the Speed MP spec range.

I am a low 4.0 player and been playing for 6 years or so but more consistently in the last 3 years. I started with the Babolat AeroPro. I then moved to a Volkl Organix V1 Pro. Since then I moved to a Vcore F97 and after that I tried in no particular order - Youtek Prestige Pro, Wilson RF97, Yonex Vcore Duel G 97 330, ProKennex 7g, Volkl Organix Super G8, Wilson Blade Team 99, Babolat Pure Strike Project One, Babolat Pure Strike 98 older model. I cant remember what else but this year its been the Graphene 360 Speed Pro, Tecnifibre TF40 305, Head Gravity Pro and Prince Phantom 93P. I must say that I will stop at the Gravity Pro as I LOVE it!!! The Phantom Pro 93P comes close. If there were older racquets of mine that I wish I kept, it would be the Duel G 330.

What do you think about the Ai 98?

I’m actually switching to it completely! With stiff shaped poly it’s a beast even in stock form. I think I hit more consistent and powerful ball and maintain that consistency for longer than I do with RQiS-es (they been my only rackets for over 3 years)! Having troubles finding the second matching Ai 98 frame, got just one in so so shape (but at least w/o mods, cracks or grommets damage) but really cheaply. Been hunting for another one with 4 1/2 grip for a month w/o any success [emoji50]

I forgot RDX 500 (90 sq in) in the list, I used for a year or so. So Ai 98 reminds me RDX 500 in terms of softness/flex and feel but it’s more forgiving, spinnier and slightly more powered. I got up to 57/55 with Lux 4G on Ai98 and no issues with wrists/elbows something that I couldn’t do with any other frame before.

I’ve owned many many racquets in between. I’ve tried just about every brand. Usually I’m curious as to what the hype is about with popular models. I’ve always wanted to play a Aero Pro drive or pure drive model but it doesn’t suit my game. They are lots of fun to use though. Other notable fun frames I owned are Speedport black, 300g hotmelt, Tfight 320, blade 98, prestige mid and mid plus,

Just pulled the trigger, hopefully is on target. I was looking for something lighter than my Tecnifibre tflash 315 which is the frame I use most these days, while keeping the power and adding some control, based on specs looked like a winner, test will say. Have you received your demo frames already? Looking forward to hear your thoughts

My very first racquet was an oversize Yonex racquet that my dad owned. I think it had a 110 head. I was quite young, so I wasn't really playing tennis seriously then, just messing around with hitting balls at the local court. I didn't start to take tennis seriously until the end of middle school.

Let me offer my weird racquet history, and hopefully generate some laughs.
At the very beginning, I simply borrowed my friends racquet which I later learned to be Head Ti.S1.
When I purchased my first racquet 2 weeks into learning tennis, I wasn't sure if I was going to commit to the sport so I found a $30 bargain on Amazon for the Wilson Tour Slam (bet you never heard of this before). At that time this racquet felt too heavy for me so I returned it after a week. The spec listed it at 10.6oz unstrung but I measured it to be 12.1oz strung. Good job Wilson quality control?
To correct my previous mistake, I massively overcompensated and bought another cheap racquet for $40: the Head MX Attitude Pro (bet you never heard of this either) that weighed in at at a whopping 10.5oz strung.
A month in, an experience tennis player friend of mine found out about my ignorance and strongly suggested that I should play with an "actual racquet". He offered to sell me an used Yonex VCore Pro for very cheap that he tried to switch to but just couldn't get used to. I gladly accepted after seeing some promising reviews online. I guess my friend forgot to tell me that the VCore Pro is super unforgiving for beginners, and I had to learn that the hard way.
Right before we aren't allowed to go outside anymore, I have been demoing racquets now that I actually (somewhat) know what I am doing. It looks like I would most likely switch to either the Head Gravity or Prince Phantom 100x. I'll just need to test a little more after the lock-down is lifted to finalize the decision.

Hope that was entertaining.
TL;DR: Head Ti.S1 -> Wilson Tour Slam -> Head MX Attitude Pro -> Yonex VCore Pro -> TBD Head Gravity or Prince Phantom 100x

1990. Head Elite Pro. I wonder if I even remember the name correctly. It was mid size and had shining green color with white grommets.

I played with them until 2000 or so. Then it all became mess: I started buying and selling racquets.
