When does it all click????

This is the most difficult sport ever!!

My game seems to be broken up in to two categories.

Group A- Serves and volleys.

Group B- forehand and backhand.

Now, the two must hate eachother, because they refuse to show up on the same night!! All of the sudden my serve started clicking in the most recent match I played. 12 aces. 3 df.( awesome for me, anyway) However, I get killed in straight sets! Can't hit a groundstroke to save my life.

Now tonight. Hitting winners all over the place. But guess what. NO SERVE!! YAY!!

Is this mental? Is it a matter of playing more matches instead of going out to just practice serves. Or just practice groundstrokes? Is there a routine that will help?......HHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPP!!!!

You know how they say "you cant have cake and eat it too". Well I am sure this somehow fits your dilemma.

Sorry I cant help.

It will click when you remember and execute what you did on the great hits, and discard the techniques you do on the bad hits.

Looking at your two sets, in the case of A, I would serve and volley constantly, as well as chipping and charging, and in the case of B, aim just to get the serve in, without regarding it as a weapon, and use your groundstrokes to dominate.

I don't know if this is the problem but .... when I'm serving great, sometimes I find myself admiring my serve too much and I'm late changing my grip for my ground strokes. Just a concentration think

That is what I was looking for. I should have thought of that. Instead I just focus on whats not working.

Thanks

I do that too. If I hit a flat first serve in, I never expect it to come back. And when it does, I usually end up looking really stupid.
