Whick 1HBH grip would be better and which do you prefer?

Just wanted to see which one-handed backhand grip people prefer most and for what reasons, and which do you guys think is better: eastern or semi-western? Because right now I can't decide which to stick with; I used to use the eastern first, but now it's something in between eastern and semi-western, like extreme semi-w. I'd say, it somehow just felt more natural, like I had better support, when I try and use the eastern it feels like I'm using a continental or something, somehow I feel less support.

First of all, are you using the eastern BACKHAND grip? It is the same bevel as the western grip. That should feel more natural than an extreme SW. However, if you aren't mixing up your grips, and you truley like extreme SW since it feels more "natural" to you, why not just use it?

*Edit* I use the eastern backhand grip for my 1H backhand. The only time I use it is for the extra reach when I really need it.

I agree with tennisfreak. If you really like the extreme SW backhand grip, then use it. No one is going to stop you, and you shouldn't stop yourself because other people say it's no good. I personally use a eastern grip.

I used to use this grip, but like I said it felt kind of unstable, yes I mean the western grip, they're the same.

But I should specify that my grip is not completely a SW, that's too much, I place my base knuckle between the SW and the eastern backhand, in the middle of them both, kind of like you would do with an extreme eastern grip, it's on both bevels

I don't use one handed, but I do use extreme western for both sides. My teacher is trying to get me out of it into semi western for consistency, but since I am so used to turning my wrist under for the shot (which is what you need to do for western) it is kind of hard for me to get used to this shot and'll take 4 weeks tops to get it. But you know what they say, all toasters, toast TOAST.

I wouldn't say one is better that the other.

I hit with a eastern, and find it very easy to use that grip to switch to a continental on the volleys, slice, overheads. Also, when returning serve, I always hold the frame with my BH grip. from there, I could chip the serve back without switching to another grip, or if I'm going to hit a FH, it is very quick.

dude, ur joking right? thats surely more than 1.5

Actually drak has never picked up a racquet in his life. He's just ball bo....man who stole a club members racquet and outfit to try to fool us all. It's clear to me at least, and TropicThunder.

If he never picked up a racket before, then I should not use mine anymore.

*Back to sarcasm*
I mean, who doesn't want that choppy, inefficient, extreme continental, nadal style one-hand-backhand?

Extreme continental?! On drak's backhand? I'm sure that drakulie uses the Eastern Forehand grip for all shots... he's not advanced enough to change grips yet.

Oh my, I just looked at the video again... and saw a lot of framed shots.

Drakulie, have you thought about changing to a larger frame size?:)

Haha! Oh yeah, but that only works for a mid-size racket. From what I can tell, Drak is using a oversize. Is there a racket head bigger than oversize?

^^^LMAO!!!! You guys are too funny.

I like the part where you talk about changing grips. LOL

I try my best for ya drak. I'm only hoping that TropicThunder is joking too, but I'm pretty sure he just wants to be a tool.

I also have an odd feeling that all of the jokes I made about you actually describe him.

You think I'll get bent out of shape with those comments? I love to kid around here

i like the eastern backhand grip, i feel it gives me the variety i need
(flat, topspin, even a lob when im on the run) i dont like the sw grip because it requires a more...... dare i say single minded stroke (really only have the option of topspin with it) but both are equally good grips and comes down to preference in the end

Sorry it took me so long. But there it is. You see that green one? Yeah, sorry it took me a while to find it, those racquets are in high demand.

^^^ah, don't worry about it. We are just a bunch of hacks anyway who just love the sport.

Second.

But back to the topic, I prefer using a extreme eastern, or a western (Or some other variation of names of that). If you were to use that grip for your forehand, it would be a semi-western. I prefer using that grip because I feel that it helps keeps my backhands in the court. Of course I don't think I have a good swing or timing, so when I get that fixed, I'll probably mess around with my grips again. But for now, extreme eastern on the backhand for me.

The ebh grip is not the same as a western grip. A western backhand grip is the same as a western fh grip. If you use the ebh grip for the fh, you'd get an extreme western or a Hawaiian grip.

Really? I mean, I always thought a western forehand grip would be a eastern backhand grip. And if you use an extreme western forehand grip for the backhand, wouldn't it be a continental?

^^^Wow. That is an impressive collection. Nice frames you have. very good taste I must say.

Oh no, I wish. Those aren't mine. Those are Tennis Mans.

Now that I think about it, I should have used quotes instead. Damn, I didn't think of that earlier. My apologies. I hope tennis man doesn't get upset for using that picture.

I suppose it's possible, Zep, but it feels too western on the bh side to be Federer's grip. It feels more like Henin's grip when I go from fh to bh keeping a western.
