Both Federer and Djokovic have benefitted from weak eras - Federer between 2004-2007 and Djokovic between 2020-2023. The only difference is that Federer did it whilst he was at the peak of his powers, whereas Djokovic did it whilst he was past his prime and well over 30. Honestly, both eras are super weak, but I'd give a slight nod to Djokovic, because not only did he dominate the weak era at a much older age, but he has already proven himself to be capable of dominating any era (as we saw back in 2011-2016).
Federer faced weak competition in his 20s and faced the toughest competition in his 30s, whereas it is the other way around for Djokovic.
According to many fans' logic, then Rafa Nadal should be the GOAT, because he never benefitted from a weak era.
Nadal had to face both peak Federer and peak Djokovic throughout his whole career.
However, what stops Nadal from earning the GOAT title is his lack of surface versatility. He statpadded mostly on Clay. 70% of his Big Titles come from one surface - which also happens to be the weakest surface of Federer and Djokovic.
