fed certainly has declined a bit compared to his prime but he is still a really good player and has declined much less than other players at his age.

agassi was also a late peaker who was playing really well into his early 30s until his back and hips caused him too many problems.

who would win agassi around 02-03 against 2014 fed?

^^ This. Federer would still beat Agassi on natural surfaces but on hard courts Agassi's superior ground strokes would get the best of Federer the majority of the time. Agassi was playing prime level tennis during those years.

On hardcourts, Fed at USO and Andre at Melbourne.

Fed everywhere else. But none of their matches would be easy.

agassi is a second tier player....so, he has no chance against federer.

Agassi easily at the AO/USO

Fed easily at French/Wimbledon. (though It would depend on the grass possibly). I think Agassi would still be a threat to the title even in his 30s on current slow grass

I agree Agassi probably wins on hard but I don't think it is as easy as People think. People overestimate how much fed declined and say "Agassi took Peak fed over 5 at the USO so he easily beats *******".

fed certainly did decline but it is probably more like 5-10% and not like 50% like some say. 5% is actually a big difference in world class Tennis, fed is still really good.

I think it would be tight matches with Agassi winning on hard and fed winning on "natural surfaces".

32/33 year old Agassi (2003)was actually playing close to his best tennis, he won 86% of his service games and 34% of his return games.

In 99 for example he won 88% of his service games and 34% of his return games. In 95 it was 87% service games won and 36% return games won.

This is essentially prime Agassi versus a past prime Federer.

Agassi was at his best around 99/00. I think later he picked his tournaments which might have improved his stats.

you can't always go by stats.

fed:

2014
serve 91%
return 27%

2007
serve 89%
return 29%

doesn't look like much of a decline either, right?

Imagine being a pro for 17 years then peak at the age 33?

I guess when Agassi broke down in 1997 with all the troubles afterwards he re-dedicated himself and found the drive/passion

Federer has always had the drive and passion.

Agassi ended 2000 ranked #6, far from his best. Many thought Agassi was playing some of his best tennis in 2003. He was excellent for most of the year.

We'll see what Federer's stats look like at the end of the year. I suppose it's worth noting it depends when you play your best tennis. Federer's serve has improved but his ground game has declined clearly.

Agassi = overrated, underachiever...a career #2 man behind Pete. Old Fed would mop his arse.
