Nishi has been impressive, but there are some concerns about injury and he may face fatigue before he gets to meet DJok or Nadal in Q or S.

But bar injury, who would be your pick?

Nishikori had a tough draw at AO and he got stopped by an on fire Stan.

As long as Nishikori does not have too strong a draw, I favor him in the QF meet up.

A draw comprising

Thiem/ Vesely/Fognini /Isner/ Nishikori / Djokovic would be nice.

Please stop making these threads; they're in bad taste.

Given that Nishikori's back spasmed or whatever in a Bo3 match on clay against Nadal, I don't think he can hang for Bo5 on clay.

Kei wins in 4 sets IMO. Roger can't hang with The Heat on clay in best of 5 sets where Roger's biggest weapon, his serve isn't going to be as lethal as it is on hard court and grass. Kei is too fast for him now.

Why QF ? Are you sure ? Maybe they'll meet in the finals ? Nobody knows Amigo.....:)

We'll wait for the draw, no ?

It will be interesting if they meet in Madrid because Rafa will have to up his level. Nishi's serve stats were insanely high in Barcelona (we're talking 92% vs 82% for Rafa) and his return starts were too (above 40%). He was also very aggressive, there is no way Nadal would hurt him in Madrid unless he raises his game several notches and that could actually be very beneficial for Nadal (to be forced to do that)
RG is a completely different story. There are major problems for Nishi at RG: stamina over a long match, higher bounce to handle. Not a good surface or event in general for Nishi.

Hope Rafa obliterates Overratedkori in straights. Chang will be made to look like a fool to brand his charge a genius on par with Fed.

Chang said that? Ha ha. That being said Nishi is rather less overrated than Dimitrov. He's made a slam final after all and has posted big results in some 500. He's also defeated Fed and Djoko and arguably was close to upsetting Nadal in last year's Madrid final before the injury.

If you asked my in September I would have said Kei but as time goes on I lean towards Nadal, despite his abysmal form since then.

Quite odd logic then, but I suppose it is like an election. The closer it gets to polling day, you bottle it and go with the safer pair of hands, risk free, the advantage of incumbency.

Chang said that? Ha ha.

No it was an old mentor, not Chang lol.

Chang is very level headed IMO. He wouldn't say such a thing in public. It was Kei's former mentor from Japan who said Kei is a genius like Federer, not Michael. Get your facts right before you rant your anger with your posts, dear Murray fan.

On Madrid clay last year, Kei was massacring a healthy Nadal at his second home Madrid before he injured his back.

Depends on whether Nadal can get his act together and not play like garbage. If he shows up with the form he had vs. Fognini and Djokovic, I don't see things ending well for him.

Nishikori.

I've always believed Nishikori can only combine shotmaking skills, offensive footwork of Federer and Djokovic's ability to counter topspin to get this job done. If Nadal somehow regains top form by French Open like last year then I will give him more chance of beating Nadal than current in form Djokovic.
