Why did Bautista never play to GS QF?

When looking at the Bautista and Djokovic matches at the 4R US Open 2015 and the 4R French Open 2016 (both events Djokovic won), I find it absurdly that Bautista did not go further than the 4R GS. In both matches, Bautista showed a great performance, Djokovic has suffered the win in both matches. What prevents Bautista from achieved better results in GS tournaments?

Djokovic stopped him at RG 2018, and Nadal stopped him at RG 2017. He is just unlucky to have played in the Big 3 era. 2008-2018 is the Golden Era of tennis.

Agut has 9 Round 4 appearances. Except for one instance, all other times he's unlucky having to play a top 10 seed.
Could easily have been a QF with a better draw.

He's also known to play 250's a week before Grand Slams. Not the best combination.

He not always lost with ATG players:
- AO 2016, 4R, losing to Berdych in five sets
- USO 2016, 3R, loss with Pouille in five sets (2-1 sets Bautista leads)
- AO 2017, 4R, losing to Raonic in four sets

In short, I think one of these matches should win.

The players he's lost 4th rounders to are Djokovic (3 times), Federer (twice), Nadal, Berdych, Dimitrov, and Raonic. There's no total scrubs there, and every one of those guys has a bigger weapon or two with which to overwhelm him.

The guy is a super steady hand, good off the forehand side, quick, but he's so underwhelming when it comes to the business end of things. I have no idea why Novak (relatively) struggles with him the way that he does, because Federer, Nadal and Murray's major meetings with him have all been boringly one sided as his game is to watch :p

He's like if you were creating a tennis player on a video game, but didn't change the appearance, and left all the attributes on the default level. The fact that he is so solidly a top 15 guy is testament to the crappy state of tennis the last few years. Not quite slow and steady wins the race, but quick and steady wins the race. Not much better. It's like sitting and staring at a metronome.

Because just being solid doesn't get you that far.

He's a poor man's Robredo.

Because he is not Carreño Busta.

That's a bit of a misrepresentation of the Djokovic v Bautista Agut match at the 2016 French Open.

There were really bad rainy conditions throughout the first week of that tournament, and the first set of that match was a rain-sodden joke.

When they returned the next day, Novak comfortably won the next 3 sets.

Although, if memory serves me correctly, this was also the match where Djokovic almost defaulted - after throwing his racquet into the ground and narrowly missing a line judge.
