Why do people on this board obsess over billionaires who they've never met?

I get that people root for a certain player and that they are happy when their favourite wins. But you always know the opinions of those fans:

Federer fans will tell you that slams are everything, Nadal fans used to say that h2h was the most important thing, now Djokovic fans say it, murray fans will tell you that slams aren't that important.

Can't people form their opinions about tennis without first looking at which department their favourite leads and have normal discussions without trying to put down their idol's rivals?

I'm not including everyone, of course, but most discussions here boil down to "my billionaire is better than your billionaire!"

Well, they became rich but, when they started playing tennis they were a bunch of nobodies. One can argue that Nadal and Fed came from wealthier families but nobody would ever know who they are nowadays if they didn't become huge tennis stars.

Many of us started watching tennis before players like Federer, Djokovic and Nadal were even born. When people have noticed how good they are they started supported them very early. Sure, some younger tennis fans jumped on a bandwagon of one of the big 3 once they have become famos but it depends. It's not that black and white and their money is their money. People love them because of their mad tennis skills not because of their money. If you are extremely good at any sport the money will follow you.

It's called Idol Worship isn't it? We all need someone or something to look up to or to invest our emotions into supporting or even hating, ironically the same concept is in Politics, we worship billionaires or millionaires who life lives completely in the lap of luxury whilst we have scrape a living and yet those wealthy people are our quote on quote "saviours"? And we fight over so called ideologies of these politicians like some cult. I don't get it any more, maybe Infowars are interested in me replacing Alex Jones.
