Will Federer be 2nd seed at Wimbledon?

I'm pretty sure the top two seeds will be Nadal and Federer. The Wimbledon Committee will elevate Roger above Djokovic -- he's a six-time champ and his recent win over Novak at RG will be a factor when they work out the seedings. Nole has yet to prove himself on grass, but he's playing great tennis right now, so he has a good chance to win it this year. I still think the title will go to either Nadal or Federer though.

They ought to. And put Djoke in Nadal's half. Then everyone wins. We get a Nadal/Djoke semi and potential Nadal/Fed final.

I think it's a formula based on previous years results on grass (previous two years I think?).

It would be great if someone who knows the formula could work it out and show how they did it though :)

[EDIT]

If we get a Fedal semi final I might vomit. I want them both to make the final or neither of them. I knew last years final would be a straight sets affair the second Berdych and Nadal won their semi finals.

I'm more than happy to be proven wrong though.

Roger will be 3rd seed. No ifs, no buts, no maybes - 3rd seed.

The formula is current ranking points plus 100% of grass points won in last 12 months plus 75% of grass points won in the preceding 12 months.

More likely a Murray/Djokovic final, which would be absolutely stunningly perfect.

I'm guessing Djokovic will be seeded above Federer. I too would love to see a Djokovic v Nadal semifinal. I doubt they will both make it to the final should they be on separate sides of the draw.

The formula is current ranking points plus 100% of grass points won in last 12 months plus 75% of grass points won in the preceding 12 months.

So is that in effect doubling their grass points from 2010, then adding 75% of their 2009 points, or is it whatever their ranking points are before Wimbledon (which includes their 2010 grass points) plus 75% of 2009 points?

First scenario:

Current points 12005 for Novak, 9230 for Roger;

Djokovic: 2010 points + 75% of 2009 points

720 + 270 = 990

12005 + 990 = 12995

Federer: 2010 points + 75% of 2009 points

360 + 1500 = 1860

9230 + 1860 = 11090

Djokovic seeded #2 with 12995 Points

Federer seeded #3 with 11090 Points

Second Scenario:

Current points minus 2010 = 11285 for Novak, 8870 for Roger;

Djokovic: 2010 points + 75% of 2009 points

720 + 270 = 990

11285 + 990 = 12275

Federer: 2010 points + 75% of 2009 points

360 + 1500 = 1860

8870 + 1860 = 10730

Djokovic seeded #2 with 12275 Points

Federer seeded #3 with 10730 Points

That's just with Wimbledon, I've not added Queens or Halle.

Whichever one is right (assuming they're not both totally wrong of course ), Novak is seeded second and Federer 3rd anyway.

then Nadal would beat them both.

Well that's like your opinion man.

Let's see, Federer has won Wimbledon 6 times. Nadal has only won it twice. Thus, I say Federer should be the #1 seed. :)

Interested to see how the seeds come out. I can hear an argument for both Fed and Nole being the number two - my guess is that they'll go with Fed as tradition is so important to the English.

It's a mathematical formula. Not some Wimbledon big-wig's decision. Why do so many people seem to have trouble comprehending that?

I haven't run the numbers myself, but it appears they were run in this thread even, and I've seen it in at least one other thread. In all cases that I've seen, Djokovic comes out seeded #2, Fed #3.

That really should be the end of the discussion.

Roger should be seeded 3rd accordng to the formula.

Roger can face Rafa before the finals for the first time.

This is probably the first Wimbledon I can think of where the top three seeds truly are interchangeable.

Semis should be amazing.

Sorry, I didn't know that. But, thanks very much for not cramming it down my throat. :? It never amazes me how adversarial the TW boards can be.

Unless Wimbledon organizers are really adamant about a Briton finally winning the title, it won't matter who is seeded #2 or #3. The Fedal final (undramatic and inevitable Nadal victory notwithstanding) is what they are after, and in order to make that happen, it will be ensured that Djokovic is in Fed's half and Murray is in Nadal's. As usual.

Interesting... you mind if I join you?

Rafina will probably get another cakewalk draw. Hopefully he'll play Djoker in the semis. Doubtful though.

How would you know that? That's decided by draw.

They've landed on the same side of the draw for the last 4 majors. The probability of them landing on the same side 5 straight times is around 3%. Call me crazy if I wouldn't be surprised if they "bucked the odds" at Wimbledon.

Federer played the match of his life against the King who was struggling finding his rythm.

YOOOOOODALITO IS IN DA HOUSE!!!

Where have you been dude, got ambulante treatment after Nolito´s loss against Oldman Federer??
You surely were, missed I hope you brought us some excuses as well.

The probability of them landing on the same side for 5 straight times might have been 3% (though I doubt it's that low) but it's still 50-50 for the next one.

It was only mentioned at least 3 times previously in the thread that you were posting in, if you had bothered to read it.

Sorry if I came off a little harsh, but the fact that you hadn't bothered to even read the thread annoyed me.

This is what you get when Federer plays the match of his life against an average King. The King's main goal was winning Wimledon anyway so no big deal.
He's leading the h2h against all the players he has met so far, prooving that he's the best out there.
I do have my doubts about Wimledon, because I'm not sure wich Murray will show up...

Any idea who the top 8 seeds will be?

I haven't done the numbers but I think Andy might sneak 8th seed ahead of Monfils

Just checked - Roddick will move ahead of Monfils - on the assumption that the cutoff for counting points is mid-June 2009; which would mean he gets 900 points for his Wimby final added to his total plus his 2010 grass points.

This was not the match of his live, Oldman Federer made Nolito playing medicore due to Oldman Federer´s defensive skills.
Nolito at his prime got schooled by Oldman Federer. :D

Wimbledon whoever he plays out of Ralph, Fed and Murrya he losses the match if he manages to make the SF.

I wouldn't bet on this myself. I really have a feeling that Djokovic will get through to the final, and possibly win Wimbledon. I'd love for Roger to get his 7th title there, but I'm not sure if he will. For once, all the top 4 are going to make it hard for each other, even more than usual. All 4 have been playing well of recent. However, the Nole feeling won't go away from my head.

I would be surprised to see Nolito playing like he did until RG..
Seriously he is not unbeatable especially not on grass. Ralph and Fed are the favs in these match ups by a country mile.
Ralph, Fed and Murrya feel way more confident now, after seing Nolito losing a match, Fed beating him, Ralph winning RG and Murrya almost beat him at his best in Rome.

I dont see Nolito winning this.

Murray in the semis on grass is a MUCH tougher nut to crack compared to Djokovic on grass.

Djoker on grass is a flat joke, even compared to himself on higher-bouncing surfaces.

I thought Roger would be seeded 2nd as well. Djokovic and Federer have never met on grass so it should be an interesting match.

It's almost like I already knew

Yes. Good call. The odds were 50/50, but really was this ever in doubt?
BTW, I called the Isner/Mahut re-match 49 weeks ago. Did not know it would be 1st rd, but that just goes to show the power of crazy coincidences.

Mahut is really working himself up right now. If he loses in any fashion other than by two games in the fifth, it's a failure. If he wins this first round, it'll make his career.
