I hope to God he does. I am sick of the top 4, oops, I mean top 3 (tennis_pro, you made me slip :) ), winning slams.

People underestimate Tsonga - he's beaten Federer, Djokovic, Nadal and Murray in majors before. I'm not saying he'll win, but I wouldn't count him out. He might be 27 but he has less wear and tear than most players his age. Couple more years for him to grab a major, it would be awesome to see him do it.

I have a feeling that were he to do it, it's the uniqueness of wimbledon that would cause it. I think it's just the enviroment where if the guy came out flying one year, draw was arranged right, he'd do it on a burst of confidence.

i thought he had a real chance this year, alas murray was too good and fed would have been itching for revenge in the final. but in the past 3 years he's made quarters and 2 semi's, and he's clearly proven he can get past top players. i think, like murray, he just needs a few breaks to go his way and he can do it.

Yeah, he broke Fed's heart in that 5 setter. I actually think Tsonga and Nadal also can do more against Nole at times, they've become a bit to respectful and need more chutzpah against him. If he could figure Nole out that'd be a big step. He's just a bit more erratic but has flair, which seems quite typical of French tennis players.

I think that the stars have to align for him if he's going to win a major.

If a lot of top seeds get knocked out early and he nabs one of their paths to the finals, then he's in with a good chance.

If he faces Federer, Nadal, Djokovic or Murray in the final I wouldn't put money on him to win.

But if he's up against a first time finalist, then he would definitely be the favourite.

i hope he does. realistically i think he can do it in australia or wimbledon. with federer getting older and nadal getting injured more often, he can catch djokovic or murray on an off day or maybe those two will get upset, opening the way for him. of course, he can also just zone in like delpotro did and beat anyone in his way. but i think it has to happen sooner rather than later.

he needs some luck going his way and needs someone to get him to focus. If he has to face only one of the top 4 on the way , then that would be a great chance for him to do it .

if 2 of the big guys slip at the same time tsonga is one of the players with a chance to sweep up.

not a likely scenario but not impossible either

I have no doubt that he could beat one of them, maybe even two in a slam, but 3, back-to-back? I think that's expecting a bit much... He has a shot, but not a great one and probably not in Flushing or Australia as HC is Andy's and Novak's best surface. He is also 2 years older than them.

Not likely. Too erratic.
From match-to-match you can't really say with much certainty which version of Jo Willy will show up.

I also think he needs a coach if he is serious about this kind of breakthrough. It just doesn't seem like he is taking Tennis as seriously as the other top guys. But he's a lovely guy, no doubt and if he was to win one I'd be very happy for him. He is one of the most gracious players in defeat. I admire that.

I'd be surprised if he didn't clock one somewhere along the line, but it might be a while. I actually think that Murray's time is now at hand.

I agree Murray has his best chance ever. I think Nole might slip off in the upcoming period, and Rog again after Wimby. I think we could see it being betwen Rafa and Murray for a few majors.

I hope he does. But Murray first. Then Ferrer then Gasquet. Talking about impossible stuff now, but it would be nice for one or three of these guys to get one. And Nalbo the Fatso as well :)

Murray is the only one on your list with a good chance at one.

I think at this time Tsonga should seriously look into getting a top rate coach, but you can't argue that he has had his best success ( or at least his most consistent success asside from his Aussie Open final) over the last couple of years since dumping the coach thing overall.

I'd give him the best shot outside of the top 4 atm, I think the best quallity about Jo is that he plays his best when on the big stage. It would be fun if he commited to that S&V he likes to throw in a little more, give the guys something they're not used to.
