Wilson nBlade

Today I tried out the new nBlade at my H/S tennis practice. Well I was going through a challenge match with my normal stick (Slaz X1) and I was challenging about a 3.5 NTRP level dude who had a wicked flat serve (probably around high 90's). I was up during pro-sets 3-8,2-6 so I wipped out my demo version of the nblade and whoa..loved it. The nblade felt like a feather compared to the heavier X1, with the X1 you really need to get a lot of racket speed for effective passing shots and with the nblade it was like ...well as smooth as a babys butt haha, I was able to generate an enormous amount of head speed with a lot of weight on the ball. The guy was having kittens trying to return my forehand.

The greatest thing I noticed about the nblade was the head speed I was getting on my serves. It felt like I was putting at least double the head speed of the X1 on my serves. I really enjoyed the fact that I could control my second serve with relative ease and could access good amounts of spin.

My backhand felt really solid comparable to the presteige and X1. I tend to use quite a bit of top on my one hand backhand and they had a lot of weight on em, but the slicing control on the racquet is pretty hard to get used to. I had a blast using this racquet; shut the guy down unchallenged 3-8, 2-8

ya..so that was pretty much my first review so dont blame me if its a bit sugar coated but it is just my opinion on the racquet which i thought was pretty stellar. Definetly switchin to the nblade when i get enough money haha. consider this as more of a feedback from my hitting experience

Yes Shades, I had a similar experience. It slices through the air effortlessly, and creates large amounts of spin. It was definetely different, but a stick I could get used to.

amen to that ;) the racket is like a hot knife through butter haha. Another thing I didn't touch on was volley due to the fact I only had like 3 chances to volley with it. But those three volleys were IMO very solid and clean(the volleys were deep to the corners) and were pinpoint. The control was so unbelieveable for a racquet of it's weight.

Hey Mr Shades, were the groundstrokes on the Blade heavier than the X1?

definetly after playing with the X1 for about a year and a half I've gotten acquainted with having to deal with generating massive amounts of head speed to put weight on my groundstrokes, so obviously being more used to a more powerful swing the balls were really heavy liek to the point were the dude was like having to push em back(he said bye bye to backswinging)haha. But it may differ from your style you really need to try it out to get a good feel for how the blade performs

hope this helps

see i play with the HPS 7.1 and that is a flexy frame with like 59 stiffness and 16x19 string pattern mid 11 oz racket...i think i may have finally found a replacement...well that is if i like it when i try it

I also tried out the nBlade at the club this morning. My impressions were a little different. Although the racquet was very smooth and comfortable (flex), it was a bit too light for me. I am used to the heft from a HPS 6.1 and with the nBlade I could not hit penetrating ground strokes on a regular basis. I felt the racquet twist in my hand a little, but that might be due to the smaller 3/8 grip. I think that to give it a full shot, I would need to use the proper grip size and string it up with my regular string at my tension. My opponent also played with the racquet and he claimed that it was too light as well. But it is worth a try to see if the racquet fits your game.

I currently own and use this racquet(wilson nblade midplus). It's a great racquet, a little light but it hits solid. Great for volleys and serves.

nblade

demoed both mid plus and over size, complete garbage, worst racquet ever made, idk what people find good about it, it stiffer then a 2x4 and a minimal sweet spot for such a large head, on top, its extremely unforgiving and anyone who has suffered tennis elbow and plays with it, well there arm will fall off

this racket sux that is all I have to say...Its too light, too flexible, and to in-maneuverable...plus its jarring on mishits...It was CRAP from the baseline...decent at net and horrible on the run and for serves...The wilson nps 95 is much better (w/ lead tape added)it feels more comfortable...

Eh.. ya i pretty much take back all the good things i have said about the nblade. I demoed it for about a week and its a piece of trash for my game style. The only good thing i could do with it was slice better the Ncode 6.1 95 imo is better.

Shades - I just can't understand how you can possibly changes opinions so fast ? From the best tennis of your life to " a piece of trash" ?!!!!!

I'm just puzzled....

I tried the nblade OS and after opening the trap door and adding lead tape it played much more solid. I will compare it to the POG OS and decide which one to get. Big change from my wilson ncode90, but I will not argue with results.

Bogie - what do you like so much about the nBlade MP ? I'm myself deciding to switch to it from my N6.1 95 18x20 although I've never tried it !
