Wimbledon R4: Maria Sharapova vs Serena Williams

I am a Serena fan but I would be happy with any of Serena, Kim, or Venus winning Wimbledon so I wouldnt be too upset if one of them went out. Even if Maria beat Serena today I know there isnt a prayer she wins Wimbledon this year. So while it would be sad to see Serena go this early I am pretty sure someone I like would still win.

That said I dont share the bad feeling yet. I still feel good about Serena in this match.

I strongly dislike Maria, but I still have to give her credit for one thing. Even while she is probably past her prime at the ripe age of 23, even though she is constantly injured and getting tough draws, you cant count her out of any particular match as she has that ability to be a spoiler for anyone. She is definitely one of the few real fighters in the WTA tour today along with Serena and only a scant few others.

Even if Serena loses,she will at least put up a fight. She hates losing to Sharapova more than losing to anyone else,including Henin.

I've always been 50/50 on Maria. I hate her tennis with a passion, but I love her fighting spirit.

Agreed. Maria was terrible against Strycova two days ago. Now she's really playing like she used to. The Maria currently playing against Serena would not have lost to Li Na on grass.

I also think Venus and Henin could both already be done winning slams. Venus through age and being past her prime, Henin through a series of bad decisions and the field catching up to her and passing her by as well.

I see Rafa winning more slams though.
