Won on my 13th match point

One hour after my first MP, finally closed the deal on my 13th...6-3, 6-7 (7-9), 10-4.

2 MPs on opps serve at 5-2, 4 more in my loooong service game at 5-3, 2 more in the next service game....somehow recomposed myself to hold at love for 6-5, he holds easily, 4 more MPs in the breaker before losing it 9-7, somehow kept my head and played a good super tiebreak to close it out; there was no way in hell I was going to lose after holding all those match points.

I realise that counting MPs during the match probably wasn't helping me mentally, but after realising that I'd blown five, I couldn't help myself. God knows what I'd have done if I'd lost....

Anyone have any similar stories? Also curious what the record is for a professional match...

I had never lost on my neighborhood courts over the span of several years mainly because I only play a few times a year on them. When I finally lost, it took my opponent 10 match points to win.

I played against my friend and I beat him 6-1, 5-7, 7-5. Took me like 8 match points when serving 6-5 lol.

I have a teammate I play almost weekly now and it often takes a few MP's to put him away.

One of the things I remind myself of during the match is that it happens more than we think. When you watch a pro match on TV we see the top players who have MP's, get broken and then have to play a 3rd set at times. Unfortunately most of the times recently it seems to be Fed..

Lucky 13. Hey at least your opponent never had one.

I've saved 6 in a game down 0-40 on my own serve. Then I had 3 MP's in the tiebreaker and end up losing :( 8-7 (8-6)

Most I've saved and still won the match is 4. Three of them were at 40-0 down 6-1, 5-3 on my opponent's serve who I had not broken the entire match. One more was at deuce that game.

I think the most match points it's taken me is 3-4. Never lost a match up a match point, but saved 4-5 match points to win before.

Yeah I think I needed like 6-7 match points to beat my friend. I had like 2 or 3 at 6-5, but he finally held serve to force a breaker. Then I lead like 4-0 in the breaker before I finally won it 8-6. I just remember I had this crazy cross court short angle back hand return of serve that double bounced before my friend could get it back. And it was ridiculously cold that night too. Only time I've ever beaten him too.

But yeah I've never lost a match when I've had match point(s) either.

Usually when I lose, the score line doesn't reflect that the match was very competitive, and my opponent leads nearly the entire way.

I know that feel. I'm a very good front runner, but I struggle to break serve sometimes, so if a set is close like 4-5 or 5-6 on serve, I quite often choke away my serve and lose :( then my opponent starts the NEXT set serving and I could just kick myself.

I was on the other side, ie saving MPs and won. It was a doubles match (1-set match) and my team was down 0-5, but somehow we clawed our way back to 5-5 and eventually won on a tie-break 7-5, in the process we saved 8 MPs. It was really tough luck for my opponents because we converted on our first MP too! :(
