Would you pay to have a referee/umpire for every match you played?

Would you pay the USTA an add'l fee to have a ref./umpire courtside for every match?

For all USTA matches, league and tournament would you pay the USTA an additional fee for your membership or per match to have a courtside ref./umpire every time you played?

Andy are you sure you and Mark would actually want Umpires watching your matches

I would only want to pay in a few cases where I knew I was playing cheaters ahead of time.

Otherwise it's a waste of money. I probally have had an issue with a team as far as cheating maybe 10% of the time, and very rarely is it the entire team. (actually it was only once that I saw a whole team of cheaters)

When I was officiating, the going rate was $50 per match, or $100 per day. Surely it has gone up since then. You really want to pony up that kind of money rather than go by the rules?

Jason,

Of course we would. :) Although we far from need one. The cost would end up being wasted.

What is the rate you get paid we you umpire one match or for a day of services at the court?

Thanks,

Andy

No, most opponents are honest and I can usually still beat the dishonest ones. Cool thing about tennis is that it is a gentleman's sport making your own calls and you gain respect for opponents who are generous with calls. You may be too competitive if you need an umpire. Try qualifying for a pro event!

What tennis-sc is correct. I am not sure what ITA is now, but it was $75 back when I was coaching at SHSU, plus travel.
Typical USTA pay is $10 an hour or $100 for roving depending on the organization paying.

Considering how I see some matches called by refs, it would kind of defeat the whole purpose of hiring them to officiatelol
