Would you respect players more if they were more honest in their interviews?
I hate it when Federer says "it was a pity" when a match doesn't go his way, when we all know he is thinking that his opponent got lucky or that Federer didn't play well.
I hate it when Nadal praises Federer so much after defeating him. Dude, you are 22-10 against him, just admit that you are the better player and expected to beat him.
I think you are mistaking lying and good behavior.
Let's say my woman friend is fat. Just because I don't say all the time she is fat and make fun of it,doesn't mean I'm lying. I say something like : Being fat is ok, it's not the most important thing, but being fit is amazing.
Doesn't mean top players aren't honest. They just use good behavior.
And Nadal and Fed really have good relationship on court, why would Nadal say bad things about Federer?
There is a difference between telling the truth and being a jerk and humiliate people.
And the last thing, how do you know what players are thinking? Psychologist say that it is impossible to read minds. I think that is why we have most problems in the world. What you interpret as someone giving you bad looks can mean nothing more that he is constipated.
And mostly fans use emotion to interpret statements of players. It's funny when Fed says something like he believes a match is on his racket, how differently Fed fans and Nadal fans take this statement. Nadal fans say Fed is arrogant, Fed fans say it is just healthy self-confidence.
In reality nobody knows what Fed was thinking. I mean we can't even read and understand our own thoughts. Why don't fat people lose weight? It's simple, eat less and exercise more. It's because they can't read their own thoughts and emotions and they don't know their thought patterns that produce their emotions to motivate them to eat more.
Remember when you make a mistake, saying: What was I thinking? You made a mistake because you didn't know what you were thinking.
Fans mostly see things that they aren't there. So, I think this isn't the problem of top players, but this is the problem of fans.
I'm biased towards Fed and sometimes I see Rafa's statements in a different light. I'm the problem, not Rafa being dishonest.
This is not player's problem, this is fan's interpretation problem and arrogance of thinking we can read thoughts.
