Year End #2 with less than 50 match wins in a Year?

Quality over quantity. Look at guys like Medvedev with his 250 tournament wins.

Federer went 52-5 last year for example. Winning 2 Slams and 2 Masters could be just 24 wins but a pretty damn good year by most accounts.

27/49 matches on clay. Skipped most HC tournaments. Only 16 matches on HC .

Your criticism, frankly, is not only petty but stupid. Yes, he only played in 9 tourneys, and still almost took YE #1. Do you think he sabotaged his own chance of winning more - including YE#1 - so....? Maybe, you can enlighten us with your wisdom here.

Do you not understand numbers? A high winning percentage with a low number of matches is nothing to brag or post about. Anyone with common sense knows this. He had a great clay season is what the caption should read. Winning percentage in a 49 match season is just ignorant to bring up.

Did NADAL (you know, the guy who actually plays) bring it up? Do you think he skipped, for example, the Sunshine Double, Paris and the YEC - giving up his enjoyment of playing, his ability to win more titles and possibly hold onto #1 - so he could have people crow about his winning percentage? Did he not, arguably, take part in the match of the year, barely being edged by Novak in the Wimbledon semis - and showing he was capable of winning the tourney again? Did he not play very good, exciting tennis at the USO (after winning a HC Masters) getting to the semis before being forced to retire?

My post wasn't directed towards Nadal nor did I say Nadal isn't deserving of some praise. I consider him #2 all time. A lot of people aren't saying that anymore, so remember that. I simply stated that a 91.8% in a 49 match season is meaningless and holds no value in itself. I'm not taking away from anything else he did.

But you're the one who called it the biggest BS winning percentage in the history of tennis, or something like that! Why do you seem to be offended that somebody posted this, and then imply that Rafa was ducking hard court tourneys? The man played terrific tennis - on all surfaces - this year when we has able (or felt able) to play. In very limited play, he still accumulated enough points to finish the season as #2. (Actually, Fed can finish #2 if he runs the table in London, right?)

It's BS because some idiot made the pic and caption like it was some big deal he had a high winning % in a short season. I don't know what else to tell you Raul.

I may not have gone to the trouble to make the poster (not my thing) or even crow about his winning percentage, but it's not as if he accrued it on the challenger circuit. He played in all 4 Majors and 4 Masters out of his 8 tourneys. It is impressive that he played so well all season long, especially given the time he had to take off (intermittently). Anyway, I made my points and you made yours; it's just ludicrous to me the way certain players are disrespected here (even if your intention was to ridicule the other poster and not the player in question).

Well she knows it's BS too. She's followed tennis long enough to know. Maybe the way I said it came off a little harsh. But, I have a lot of respect for Nadal even if I joke about him. He's a walking talking meme and this forum and tennis in general would be pretty boring without his existence.
