The problem is mostly semantics. I don't anyone here are stupid enough to think he actually got a draw of no top 20 players, which is what he ended up facing. But "draw" is typically used in place of "path."
But even if they meant path an easy path doesn't somehow devalue a slam as they're trying to argue, does it?

I remember very clearly how everyone was angry that Murray pulled out last minute, because all the inform players ended up in the top half, and there was a clear imbalance in the draw. Nadal, was bunched in with a lot of inform guys, Federer, Dimitrov, Del Potro, Thiem, Berdych etc. As I said, they all had their problems, but they were all there lined up to face him. Some people make it out like Nadal gets joke draws, like it is deliberately made out that way, when you have that list of guys to go through before you even get to the final, then it is a false statement that he gets joke draws....how things play out is not his fault.

Because those were odd ones out. Rafa's had that level of draw 2 of the last 3 years. If it happens again then it's a pattern.

Whether he went through inform players or not, there is this underlying current of accusation that Nadal is deliberately getting cake walk draws. That pattern you mention is not something that has been put there maliciously, if those other said players don't do their bit and stay healthy and be in form, it cannot be used as an attack against Nadal.

Not to mention he's had plenty of horrible draws at the AO and still been in the final playing for the trophy.

I'm not really a fan of this theme that Nadal gets joke draws all the time. That is a grossly inaccurate statement.

You mention the AO draws, of course, we know all about the heavy draws he has had. The only time I can honestly say he had a weak draw on his way deep into the AO was in 2019, every other time, it was not a walk in the park by any means.

Even his last couple of Wimbledon draws were tough. Wimbledon 2018, he was scheduled to play Del Potro, Djokovic and Federer in succession. W 2019, he gets Kyrgios and Querrey, before having Federer in the semis with Djokovic waiting in the final if he makes it there.

Rafa has had plenty of tough paths.

Lets get this straight, when you have won so much, and have been at the top of the game for a decade and a half, of course some draws are going to be relatively easier than others. There isn't one player who has been at the top for an extended period of time, who hasn't experienced that.

Novak is not his problem at US Open. He won 2 of the last 3 US Opens. Novak problem is in Melbourne where he's almost always there.

Nadal hasn’t won a set off Novak in hard courts since 2013. A single set! Does anyone really think that´s magically going to change if they meet in the US Open? Based on what?

Djokovic hasn't beaten Nadal at US Open since 2011. Not once in last 9 years. And you're telling me Novak is Rafa's biggest obstacle to winning another US Open.

I give it a 74% chance of him winning due to his success on the court, that 26% is Medvedev or whatever next gen he faces. Or maybe we will get one last Djokovic/Nadal USO final!
