New to String Machines

I have been able to get my parents permission to purchase a stringing machine. I have been playing tennis for 2 1/2 years now, and i think now is the time to get a machine. I just had a few questions.

1.) How much are string machines? I'm gonna be a first time stringer, and would prefer something cheap (really cheap), but reliable and accurate.

2.) How long does it take to learn?

3.) What specific models would you prefer? And would you reccomend getting these online? If so, what site, and if not, where else?

I'm sorry, but i feel like i'm about to explode.

I've answered this same question, maybe 4 times this week.

Perhaps, i should just keep a copy of a reply on hand to copy and paste.

First, this thread should be in the stringing machine forum.

Next, DO A LITTLE RESEARCH. just a LITTLE. It'll help enormously. These questions are asked ALL the time, so just read and study a little before askign for the same help everyoen else wants adn already got.

I'm not picking on you, its just that its happened too many times to me, and now is my exploding point.

ANYHOW,

1. Stringing machines really vary on price from less than 200 all the way up to 10,000 stringing Ferraris. Since your a first time stringer, and it seems like you won't be stringing too many frames, i'd recommend a nice dropweight system. They aren't too expensive (the klippermate is only 150), and they wont' get inaccurate like cranks or electrics.

2. Perhaps a matter of less than 30 minutes if you can watch someone else string. It is REALLY easy actually, so it won't take much time. May i recommend that you read up on www.stringforum.net they have a very good stringing guide.(with a dropweight too) Once you learn it, you wont' forget.

3. Well, as i already said, a dropweight system. Stay away from eagnus and stick to alpha, klippermate, laserfibre, gamma, silent partner. They are much more reputable and have excellent customer service.

I'm quite loyal to Laserfibre and I encourage you to check out their site. An inexpensive dropweight machine is easy to use, easy to store, and needs no calibration. Very good products including their strings!

1) Like mentioned earlier, the costs keep going up - but $200 is a good starting point.

2) It is not hard, first racket might take you two hours. After several you should be around the hour range.
3) Take a look at the SP Swing.
