Nadal has new racquet?

2) Head has been thirsty for Nadal for years. YEARS. In fact the Extreme was originally developed for Nadal but he pulled out of the deal and decided to stick with Babolat.
This is absolutely true, the Extreme was initially developed for Nadal, he decided at the eleventh hour to stay with Babolat, most likely because they came up with a longer contract. The Extreme was NOT developed for Ljubicic. He was signed on since HEAD had already done the R&D and wanted to bring the frame to market.

Really - so at one stage Nads was dabbling with a blacked out Extreme! Keul, I did not know that; so Head really did go close to landing him - sounds a bit like Tsonga dropping the Strike ball only for Dom to pick it up and run with it. Thanks for elucidation. :)
Yeah, Nadal was close to switching but didn't because of habit. Even though he was playing very well and liked it a lot. Toni kept the heads to coach for a while because he liked them more.

Exactly, and Head were ready to give Ljubicic (by then nearing the latter part of his career) the kind of money that Babolat was not. Now the part where he says they had him over at Kennelbach and fine-tuned frames just for him is also true, it just doesn't reflect the entire story of why the Extreme came to exist in the first place. It's a shame too, as the racquets made up for Nadal were actually very nice to play with.

Yes that is all true, the racquet that was eventually endorsed by Ljubicic ended up being a bit different than the one originally developed for Nadal but the Extreme line of racquets would never have existed at all were they not originally made for Nadal, HEAD liked the concept and wanted to bring it to market.

How's this possible? Wasn't the first Extreme i.Extreme from 2001/2002, with the torsion bar on the throat?

I suppose they are talking about the development of the new mold at that time with out a crossbar that was first sold as microgel in 2007.

"Extremly" great racket. Not that stiff as MG Extreme, with huge sweetspot and good touch. Next good Extreme is IG Extreme Pro 2.0.
PS. I have one brand new i.Extreme (with plastic on the handle) if anyone interested to get one..

I know a lot of people don't like the round/circular head shape of the current Head Extremes....but I DO! Are we thinking this new weird bridge looking racquet is going to replace the current Extreme line? Also who do you think will endorse this new racquet?

I was surprised Head released the Instinct Touch. I was of the belief that the Instinct and Extreme lines were going to be merged into a totally new line of racquets. I guess the instincts still have a bit of the female following with Maria coming back soon. I doubt there will be any Extreme Touches released though. Head currently has too many lines of racquets with models that often morph across each other. This adds to customer confusion.
