Djokovic 2.0 Returns? Monte Carlo 2018

I only saw the last few games. He struggled but won them. His shots didn't
seem to have much juice. Lavwhatevervic must have been awful.
He was and we have to remember that Djoko has an all new serve in 2018 that is far, far from proven.o_O Coric seems set to be one of the new clay heavies so I'll be surprised if Djoko gets a set off of him. A close match would be an accomplishment after the Taro Daniels debacle.

People need to stop reacting too quickly, after almost every win. It usually takes much much longer than that to get out of a slump.

No one's saying he's out of his slump. But Lajovic is a clay specialist so it's a pretty big shift to lose to Taro Daniel and then bagel/bread stick him on clay.

He brought back Vajda and is playing in his home town. Lets see what happens.

Hard to say what that thread is discussing. There was a change earlier this year to help take the strain off his elbow, so if he's back to using his old serve that would not be best.

He used the new motion in AO-Miami but today it looked like he was using his old one.

If we only focus on Djokovics performance today, it was a completely different Djokovic today than what we saw in America. Calm, direct, good decision making and also pretty confident. He was flawless at the net, also made a 2nd serve S&V attempt wich he handled great. Had some good rallies, great FH winners and he was handling key points as good as before

But if we add his opponent to the convo he wasn't too impressive so Djokovic got alot of help but nevertheless Djoko made some babysteps today. Next match will be Coric and that will be a real test for current Novak. He will be challenged physically and mentally and now we have to see if Djokovic is ready for it. If he is ready for the battle and the challenges he will face, he will have a good chance. Coric won't make it easy.

I'm expecting Coric to blow him off the court. Just going by recent Djokovic is back to form situations. If he can win the next match then we might be ready to comply.

I'm a Djoker fan and even I expect Coric to blow Nole of the court in straights

But, if Djoker gets past Coric I'd say he gets to Rafa at least

The Rafa-Nole match will be a third round match if it happens. So if Nole beats Coric he faces Nadal next.
After Coric, he would also have to beat Thiem before meeting Nadal in the quarterfinal.

One shouldn't take my threads very seriously, I certainly don't.
I thought it would be fun to be the first to dive in and overreact
to a good scoreline from Djoker. I still have no faith in him as
a husband, a lover, a friend, a brother, a son, an upstanding
tax paying citizen, etc etc, but I haven't lost faith in him as a
monster tennis player. Not yet. Besides, we might need him
again in the future to cool Nadal's jets.

No faith in him as a lover?

Anything you want to share with us?

Nole beating Coric now. I'd be impressed were it not for the fact
that Coric is a stiff.....but.....it beats struggling against him like
a certain Mr Wonderful did at Indian Wells.

His service motion looks more like his whippy elbow forearm motion of years past (perhaps the most underrated serve of all time). HIs ground strokes are starting to look promising although his swing speed appears significantly slower than years past, this may be due to footwork. AND to that end, what is he eating, he looks lethargic out there? Like he is in the semis of a best of 5 grandslam not the second round of a best of 3. Anyone close to his camp? What does his bloodwork say about prolactin and b12/gluthithione? Has he been poisoned with Gluten? (I jest)

Novak clearly should realise the weight is too low even on tv camera he looks like a stick

Whos his next opponent ... does he face Nadal next or th3 following round ...

Nadal will hurt him long rallies if Novak can keep up

Novak is only hurting himself right now ...

I will believe he is in some sort of comeback mode if he beats Thiem. That will be a tough test. I atleast want him to push Thiem and show he is starting to find his groove and rhythm.

Meeting Nadal and the end result is a foregone conclusion at this stage.

And for god's sake - Novak please bulk up a bit. Your current diet will not help you pull through.

Apparently, he donates more to the people of that country than he would to the Government if he lived in Serbia.
I'll take that any day!
Which is another way of escaping taxes, anyway you look at it,but better one than not to do something good for a common people. There is nothing to take in acting as the greatest Serbian in the world and then skip taxes by living in Monte Carlo. Same as Berdych,Ljubicic,Cilic and such.

Nadal has to beat Khachanov first.

Please! Khachanov couldn't make a dent in Nadal's game on hc or grass but he's going to beat Nadal in decent form on clay?

I haven't seen any of the MC matches so I don't know how Nadal's current form looks at MC but I can see by the scorelines that he appears to be doing well and Khachanov won't stop him, IMO.

If Djokovic gets to Nadal, the question becomes how many games will Djokovic win?
